Job Description
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Duties include but are not limited to:
Working from verbal or written instructions or rough sketches, make layout and preliminary "study" drawings, layout and detail engineering projects in the assigned discipline (electrical, mechanical, civil/structural, distribution) from designs developed by engineers or drafters of a higher classifications.
Using the appropriate tools and equipment, including AutoCAD, develop and prepare neat, accurate and legible detailed engineering drawings of an elementary nature involving basic design work.
Assist Drafters of a higher classification in developing and presenting design details to engineering personnel in an intelligible manner.
Assist in obtaining field data needed for the development of design drawings.
Assist employees of other classifications, as assigned.
Perform other related duties as assigned or as necessary.
MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
High school graduate or equivalent, supplemented by successful completion of a high school vocational-technical curriculum in Drafting or Two semesters of college drafting, and successful completion of an AutoCAD training and Basic Math Skills course which includes geometry and trigonometry. An alternative to these requirements is successful demonstration of AutoCAD capabilities and completion of the Written Entry Level Qualification Examination to demonstrate these skills.
Proficient in AutoCAD: Operation, Installation and Troubleshooting. Cad System Used in Fossil Drafting – AutoCad 2021, & Civil 3D AutoCad.
Ability to draw and letter neatly and efficiently as demonstrated by examples.
General knowledge and experience in the use of various drafting instruments and equipment. Knowledge and experience in the use of a computer and computer- assisted drafting equipment.
Valid Pennsylvania motor vehicle operator's license.
Knowledge of Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, Access etc.
Must be Respirator Fit Tested and certified every year to work in plant confined spaces including inside of boilers during outages.
Must be Fall Protection certified to work in plant elevated structures and scaffolds.
Ability to work at plants which are part Talen Fossil Fleet.
