Manager Product Development (Energy Solutions and Controls)
The Caterpillar Electric Power Division (EPD) is seeking a Manager of Product Development for their energy solutions and controls products. In this role, the successful candidate will lead a team of market consultants and specialists in market analysis, strategy development, and product definition for Electric Power’s controls, microgrid, and power solutions, including but not limited to Fuel Cells, Energy Storage Systems (ESS), Hydrogen Infrastructure, Photovoltaic Systems (PV), Battery Chargers, and the integration of these systems at a site level through Controls Systems. This leadership position will define and support a global portfolio of products that meet our customer’s needs, contribute to EPD’s Energy Transition Strategy, and drive the organization to maximize Caterpillar's value to Electric Power customers.
What you will do:
Drive product development and product improvement programs with process partners, including accountability for business case, product and sales support requirements management and value messaging. Products including but not limited to Energy Storage Systems, Fuel Cells, Battery Charging Systems, Controls, & Hydrogen Infrastructure
Manage the global transition to Cat® Energy Control System for applicable products and facilities while ensuring that legacy systems are still meeting our customers’ needs.
Engage with Enterprise partners in adjacent industries (Marine, CI, RI) to commercially position Electric Power systems appropriately to support our Customers’ energy needs.
Acquire and process feedback from the Electric Power sales teams, dealers, and customers to define new product recommendations, requirements and product improvements
Provide product definition and functional/technical requirements to engineering teams for the development of new products
This position requires a person to communicate effectively across product, industry, dealer and/or customer audiences to gain understanding and acceptance of ideas and recommendations
Collaborate with design engineers and Technical Marketing to maximize the value of product development programs to the enterprise including driving favorable time to market, product cost and features, and early sales support
Provide direction to staff and support personnel engaged in product definition and technical sales support activities.
Collaborate and partner with Caterpillar’s Electrification + Energy Solutions Division
Lead a team of 5-7 Senior Product Consultants
Degree or equivalent experience desired
Products and Services : Knowledge of major products and services including Energy Storage Systems, Battery Energy Storage, Battery Chargers, Photovoltaic, Fuel Cell, Microgrid or Hydrogen Infrastructure; ability to apply knowledge of product and service appropriately to diverse situations.

• Obtains information about product and service linkages with other products and services elsewhere in organization.
• Researches the target market and how the product and services are sold and delivered.
• Explains current status, delivery alternatives and announced updates to products and services.
• Summarizes key features of major products or services in own unit.
• Assesses own unit's product alternatives, costs, and pricing.
Organizational Leadership : Knowledge of leadership concepts and ability to use strategies and skills to enlist others in setting, embracing and achieving objectives.
Level Working Knowledge:

Competitive Environment: Knowledge of business market concepts and principles; ability to utilize the processes, tools and techniques for gathering, analyzing, and communicating information about the competitive environment.
Level Basic Understanding :
• Identifies current competitors of specific product lines or services.
• Locates key recipients of marketing intelligence and information.
This position will require minimum of 25% travel including international
