We are looking for a Sr. Network Engineer position at Remote - Arlington VA. The position details are as follows. Position: Sr. Network Engineer Location: Arlington VA. Work hours per week: 40 Duration: Long Term Job Description Provide Senior level Network Engineering support under the direction of department managers, working with engineers and technical staff. Interpret and create network drawings and documentation using Visio and be involved in the design and configuration of network equipment, and network facilities. Network installations using industry best practices and Arlington County Network Infrastructure standards. Working with fiber optic cable plant design relocation, documentation, and patching to equipment. Perform cable plant testing and troubleshooting using industry best practices as needed. This is a long-term temporary position. The work hours are expected to be 40 hours/week. Workdays and hours are flexible; however, work hours will normally fall between 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM. Responsibilities Take part in a team of Engineers, Project Managers, and Department Managers to facilitate the relocation of network equipment and fiber optic cable plant from an existing location to a newly built out location. This will include the design, provisioning, and installation of routers, switches, peripheral devices, and uninterruptable power supplies. Documenting of all systems with diagrams and supporting word/excel documents to ensure all designs and operations are easily understood and easy to troubleshoot. Work with vendors and ISPs for provisioning of internet circuits and ensuring all is in working order with the existing network. Maintain status of projects and tasks. Working with other departments within the county to coordinate changes being made and funneled through the change management process. Attend and be prepared for project status meetings, change management meetings, and team meetings as needed. Basic Qualifications Ability to interpret and draft network drawings and specifications. Computer literate and knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Power Point, and Visio. Excellent written and oral English communication skills. • Ability to walk long distances, lift 50lbs, climb ladders. • U.S. citizen or green card holder. • Hold a valid driver’s license. • Pass a security background check. • Strong experience developing network design plans and documentation. • Considerable experience managing programs and systems at a senior level, including developing, implementing, and troubleshooting highly complex technology systems while researching, analyzing, and developing solutions to complex operational problems; and • CCNP Enterprise, CCNP Data Center or demonstratable equivalent experience. Preferred Qualifications • Expert level understanding of Network Infrastructure protocols (DNS, DHCP, NTP, FTP, HTTP, SMTP, 802.1X, Multicast) and an understanding of how to support these applications/protocols. • Advanced network troubleshooting experience utilizing packet analysis tools. • Experience formulating disaster Recovery best practices. • BICSI RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer). • CCIE or equivalent certification. • Cloud Infrastructure experience with cloud providers such as AWS and Microsoft Azure. • Cisco Nexus Dashboard and Data Center infrastructure experience. • Aruba Wireless Controllers and wireless network infrastructure. • WAN/SD-WAN design, documentation, and implementation using VPN technologies. • Experience with UNIX/LINUX command line and scripting tools (Python, Perl, Bash). • Cisco Meraki SD-WAN. Substitution: Additional qualifying experience may substitute for the education requirement on a year-or-year basis. Required Education • Master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems Management, Mathematics, or a related field
