Role Overview:

In this dynamic role, you'll be the vital link between our drivers and customers, playing a key part in ensuring the smooth flow of our operations. You'll begin by assisting experienced dispatchers in assigning and scheduling truck movements, utilizing our dispatch software to track driver progress and providing basic route updates. As you learn, you'll develop your communication skills by interacting with drivers, providing instructions, and assisting with customer inquiries regarding pick-ups and deliveries. Additionally, you'll have the unique opportunity to shadow and learn the responsibilities of our Parts Clerk, gaining valuable insights into parts management, inventory control, and the maintenance side of our business. This cross-training will provide a well-rounded understanding of our operations and enhance your career growth potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Dispatching:
    • Assist experienced dispatchers with assigning and dispatching drivers.
    • Learn to utilize our dispatch software to track driver locations and progress.
    • Begin monitoring driver routes and providing basic updates.
  • Communication:
    • Communicate with drivers, providing basic instructions and updates.
    • Assist with customer inquiries regarding pick-up and delivery.
  • Record Keeping and Documentation:
    • Learn to document delays, issues, and customer inquiries.
    • Assist with generating basic reports on dispatch activities.
    • Gain experience using dispatch software for accurate order entry and billing.
    • Learn to maintain accurate records.
  • Problem Resolution:
    • Identify and report potential issues or delays to senior dispatchers.
    • Assist in resolving basic scheduling conflicts and delivery issues.
    • Learn how to search for broker freight.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Gain an understanding of basic DOT regulations and company safety policies.
    • Learn how to monitor driver hours of service (HOS).
  • Customer Service:

    • Provide customer service support to drivers and customers.
    • Assist in addressing basic customer inquiries and complaints.

       

  • Relationship Building:

    • Begin building positive relationships with drivers, customers, and co-workers.
    • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations.
  • Parts Clerk Shadowing and Learning:
    • Observe and learn the daily tasks of the Parts Clerk, including inventory management, parts ordering, and vendor communication.
    • Assist with basic parts organization and inventory counts.
    • Learn the process of how parts are ordered and managed.
