Amentum Accountant Principal - Revenue Recognition in Baton Rouge, Louisiana

The Accountant Principal - Revenue Recognition provides subject matter expert level professional accounting services by preparing, analyzing, and processing financial statements, budgets, customer invoices and monthly reports for the company. This is a remote-telework opportunity.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Applies advanced knowledge of accounting principles to activities associated with maintaining ledger accounts and developing financial reporting.

  • Oversees the revenue recognition platform and the surrounding process design to ensure accurate financial reporting and business partner understanding across the enterprise.

  • Responsible for executing monthly close processes and ensuring accurate financial reporting.

  • Facilitates and drives continuous improvement of accounting process design, ensuring an efficient and effective process structure for accounting and reporting.

  • Leads account reconciliation and financial analysis reviews.

  • Ensures the internal financial reporting requirements of the company are met.

  • Acts as an accounting business partner in facilitating clear communication and best-in-class customer service.

  • Reviews work prepared by others and provide constructive comments and/or suggestions to foster efficiencies and improvements for the department.

  • Serves as a consultant to implement accounting functions during phase-in of a new contract.

  • Ensures conformance to accounting principles, government regulations and internal controls.

  • Assists internal and/or external audit process as required.

  • Position may be assigned to a specific targeted business area and may require additional or specific job duties related to assigned function which are not aforementioned.

  • Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or associated discipline.

  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred.

  • Six (6) or more years experience in general accounting.

  • Four (4) years in government contract accounting experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of General Accepted Accounting principles (GAAP) required. Familiarity of FASB ASC 606, Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Joint Travel Regulations (JTR), and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) a plus.

  • Ability to perform data extraction and manipulation, analyze financial data, and generate reports.

  • Ability to analyze variances to budgets/forecasts/accruals, explain to management, and create corrective action plan.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in finance and accounting relational databases and Microsoft applications.

  • Ability to work with numbers and complete assignments with attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels throughout the organization.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments, work with little supervision, and work well under pressure.

  • Hyperion Planning experience preferred.
