Team Overview and Job Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Downhole Technology (DHT) Logistics Manager, the Distribution Center Manager has the responsibility for the coordination of all distribution functions. You will be responsible for coordinating all shipping, receiving, late point packaging, customer service, warehouse traffic, inventory control, storage and handling of both raw materials and finished goods.

The Distribution Center Manager has supervisory responsibility for the Distribution Center personnel.

Your day to day will include but may not be limited to:

  • Lead the DC Team to support company objectives in cost, quality, service, working capital, and safety.

  • Cost – manage the DC budget and drive productivity by reducing the volume-adjusted cost to operate year over year.

  • Quality – maintain inventory accuracy at 98% through cycle counting. Reduce shipping errors by 10% year over year.

  • Service – ship 98% of finished goods material within business team specific shipping window targets.

  • Working Capital – partner with the logistics and plant controlling team to minimize scrap and dispose of slow moving and obsolete inventory.

  • Safety – provide a safe working environment as measured by TRIR.

  • Provide responsive customer service to all customers, both internal and external. Interact frequently with the corporate sales and quality teams.

  • Establish and maintain an effective system of operation and implementation of written procedures in the form of Standard Operating Procedures, and Technical Operating Instructions.

  • Establish, implement, and maintain effective training programs and safety programs.

  • Manage the traffic functions within corporate guidelines including the use of approved carriers, the Transportation Management System and interaction with third party logistics companies to support shipment.

  • Support transportation cost reduction initiatives.

  • Provide an environment for lean sigma culture, techniques, and principles to flourish within the DC.

  • Work with the DHT Materials Manager to establish goals and objectives for the department.

  • Responsible for the control and repair of all returnable reels.

  • Support occasional cycle counts and monthly physical inventory.

Who are we looking for?

Required Qualifications:

  • A result driven individual who has demonstrated ability working in a high-performance distribution environment, preferably within a manufacturing campus.

  • Proven experience in distribution, transportation, or supply chain functions.

  • Must have good attention to detail but be able to manage the big picture and have a “make the numbers” mentality.

  • Must be able to manage multiple, complex tasks and deal easily with pressure on a day in and day out basis.

  • Leadership skills including the ability to motivate, communicate and drive continuous improvement.

  • Critical thinker, with excellent analytical abilities.

  • Good written and oral communication skills.

  • Willingness to work collaboratively with corporate support teams i.e, Distribution, Transportation, IT, Inside Sales, Finance, etc.

  • High energy individual who demonstrates urgency and fast pace.

Desired Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in distribution or transportation management.

  • Experience managing distribution within a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience leading teams.

  • Lean Enterprise and/or Six Sigma exposure and certification preferred.

  • Experience managing a budget greater than $1mm.

  • BS degree in Business Administration, Logistics or Supply Chain.

  • Previous experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.

Work Environment / Physical Demands:

  • Works out of a normal office/manufacturing environment with standard office equipment available.

  • Will be required to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, use keyboard, read, write, and speak fluently.

  • Employee will regularly be required to lift and carry objects of 10-25 pounds as needed.

  • Employee will occasionally be required to lift and carry objects of 25-30 pounds as need.
