Are you an experienced facilities management professional with a strong background in maintenance, construction, and project oversight? Ball-Chatham CUSD #5 is seeking aDirector of Facilities and Groundsto lead our facilities operations and ensure a safe, efficient, and well-maintained environment for students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
Overseemaintenance, repair, and new constructionfor all district facilities
Managefacility utilization, site repairs, security operations, and preventative maintenance
Supervise and coordinate daily workflow, schedules, and assignments forgrounds, maintenance, and custodial teams
Prepareproject estimates, requests for proposals (RFPs), and manage department budgets
Ensurecompliance with local, state, and federal regulationson building codes and safety standards
Conductinspections of new construction, repairs, and special projectsto ensure quality and efficiency
Recruit, train, and evaluate facilities staff while providing ongoingprofessional development
Respond to inquiries from staff, district personnel, and community members regarding facility operations
Provideguidance on custodial dutiesto ensure a safe and clean school environment
Qualifications & Skills: Required:
Bachelor’s degreein Construction Management, Facility Management, or Engineeringand5+ years of experience OR 10+ years of related experience with equal responsibilities
Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) licenseorregistered professional engineer
Ability to pass afingerprint-based criminal background check
ValidIllinois driver’s license
Strong knowledge ofbuilding maintenance, safety regulations, and facility operations
Preferred:
Experience inschool district facilities management
5+ years of experience inbuilding automation systems
10+ years of experience inbuilding or grounds maintenance
Competencies:
Ability toread blueprints, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment
Knowledge ofbudget management and fiscal responsibility
Proficiency inMicrosoft Office and Google Suitefor reports and record-keeping
Strongleadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability toprioritize tasks and delegate responsibilities effectively
Work Conditions:
Mental Demands:Must be able to work independently and as part of a team, handle multiple priorities, and maintain professionalism under pressure.
Physical Demands:Regular lifting up to20 lbs, occasional lifting up to75 lbs, frequent bending, kneeling, twisting, and reaching. Prolonged standing, walking, and sitting.
Environmental Conditions:Work indoors in offices and school buildings, and outdoors in various weather conditions with moderate noise exposure.

Starting Salary:$72,000-$108,000 commensurate with experience
