The Sr. Manager of Sales Engineering provides management, oversight, and direction to all Sales Engineering. The Sr. Manager of Sales Engineering is specifically focused on managing the Sales Engineering team to help ensure appropriate resources are brought in to support Hyperscale, Enterprise, and large-scale wholesale business. This individual must be able to collaborate with both Sales and Operations to deliver effective solutions to support our client base.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrates expert understanding of data center design concepts and differentiators (high dense cooling, maintainable fault tolerant power, security, redundancy, etc.).

  • Effectively mentors, teaches, and leads solution requirement gathering sessions with Sales, Sales Engineering.

  • Tracks and reviews custom solutioning using Tech Reviews, and collaboration with DCOPs and Construction.

  • Designs and documents customer solutions/environments based on specific customer requirements.

  • Reviews lease terms and aligns with the customer’s technical requirements.

  • Hosts tours of the NTT GDCA data centers.

  • Identifies best use of the NTT GDCA wholesale products to develop solutions to meet and exceed customer requirements.

  • Interfaces with multiple teams and translate between them (operations, engineering, construction, marketing, IT etc.).

  • Responsible for developing and maintaining a training program for the Sales Engineering Team

  • Participates in customer meetings and assists regularly in telling the NTT GDCA story.

  • Works closely with RFP team Responding to, maintaining technical RFP questions.

  • Inspects Scope of Work and Bill of Materials to support Sales Engineering team in delivery of Design to the Service Delivery Organization.

  • Assists in facility space planning and management.

  • Develops and hosts technical training for Sales Engineering team.

  • Trains new SEs and Sales on how to host data center tours, with a focus on a wholesale delivery model.

  • Occasionally works the NTT GDCA booth at industry trade shows and events.

  • Performs special projects related to the Solutions Engineering function as assigned by management.

  • Regular onsite, predictable attendance is essential for satisfactory performance.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Must have strong communication and collaboration skills.

  • Comfortable in a working manager role.

  • Capable of creating and presenting solutions

  • A thorough understanding of modern data center and IT client requirements and environments with a primary focus on wholesale customers and their data center requirements.

  • Proficient with software application such as AutoCAD, CFD Modeling, Visio, Word, Excel, Power Point, Project Outlook, SharePoint, and Salesforce.

  • Able to work in a collaborative team/cross-team/multi-site environment.

  • Manages stress and/or fast pace effectively.

  • Excellent problem solver/creative thinker.

  • Engages customers to extract critical technical and business drivers that may position client deliverables.

  • Ability to develop and write a bill of materials and scope of work to meet large customer infrastructure deployment requirements.

  • Maintains familiarity with competitive offerings in order to effectively position products and solutions in a competitive environment.

  • Must possess effective oral and written communications and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Able to be highly confidential.

  • Proficient with computers to include the utilization of Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Requires a High School diploma or GED.

  • Requires an engineering or technical bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and/or work experience in computer-related field usually obtained with 5-7 years of related technical sales experience.

  • Requires minimum of 5+ years of experience with data center operators.

  • Prior technical sales support experience in Commercial, Wholesale data center environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to walk and deliver and technical tours throughout data center footprint.

  • Primarily sitting with some days extensive walking.

  • Able to hear and speak into a telephone.

  • Close visual work on a computer terminal.

  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments.

  • Ability to lift or carry objects up to 20 lbs.

  • Able to hear and speak into a telephone.

  • Able to lift and carry up to 20 (administrative) or 50 (operations) lbs.

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Standard office environment with walking in Data Center environment with varying temperatures and loud noises.

  • Extensive daily usage of workstation or computer.

  • This role is expected to be remote with an occasional need to be on-site in a shared space.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Up to 25% travel possible.

  • Works on-site with some visits to customer premises as needed.

  • Must possess a current, valid state-issued driver’s license.

This is a remote position that requires reliable internet connection and electricity. A monthly stipend is provided to cover expenses associated with working remotely and use of a personal mobile device, if applicable.

NTT Global Data Centers Americas, Inc. offers competitive compensation based on experience, education, and location. Base salary for this position is $127,000 - $186,000 and is eligible for commissions/SIP.
