Position Summary:
The Staff Accountant position will report to the Accounting Supervisor and support corporate accounting by maintaining daily, monthly, and annual accounting activities. The Staff Accountant supports full-cycle accounting and finance duties primarily General Ledger, as well as identifying streamline opportunities of processes and process documentation. We are looking for an individual with strong problem-solving skills, analytical and critical thinking capabilities coupled with strong attention to detail. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
Primary Position Tasks:
Monthly and annual close procedures (account reconciliations, preparation of standard JE’s, research and analysis of variances)
Reconcile loan and cash balances daily
Assist with the interim and year-end audits and other related projects as required
Process and track contract fee accruals and payments
Assist with Inventory reconciling
Manage and reconcile company fixed asset ledger
Deliver miscellaneous reporting requests
Execute process improvement initiatives as assigned or identified
Document accounting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Post and reconcile intercompany transactions
Assist Accounting team with adherence to company compliance with Financial Accounting Standards, Cost Accounting Standards, Federal Acquisition Regulations, and disclosed Company practices
Collaborate with all levels of staff and management throughout the organization
Other business duties as assigned
Minimum Education/Certification/Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s in accounting or finance
Understanding of GAAP and accrual-based accounting
Experience creating and preparing G/L account support schedules
A high level of computer competency, particularly in the area of Microsoft Excel
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Works well cross functionally in a growing fast paced environment

This candidate will operate hybrid from the Claremont, NH or Chantilly, VA corporate office.
