Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated Intake Specialist who will play a critical role in growing and supporting our referral network. This position will focus heavily on managing referrals from the criminal justice system, acute care hospitals, and crisis response centers (CRCs), ensuring timely admissions, and building strong, lasting relationships with referral sources.
In addition to coordinating the admissions process, the ideal candidate will specialize in providing exceptional customer service, answering and responding promptly to phone calls, and maintaining strong, professional communication with all external partners and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary contact for all external referral sources --- including criminal justice agencies, acute care hospitals, and CRCs.
- Build and maintain strong rapport with referral partners through consistent communication and excellent customer service.
- Answer incoming referral calls and inquiries promptly, providing timely and professional follow-up.
- Screen potential patients to assess eligibility for admission, using ASAM criteria as part of the clinical intake assessment process.
- Verify insurance benefits, secure funding, and obtain pre-authorizations as needed.
- Coordinate closely with Counseling, Nursing, and other departments to facilitate smooth patient admissions.
- Maintain detailed, accurate records of all referral activities, admissions, and authorizations.
- Act as a key liaison between external agencies and internal teams to ensure a seamless referral-to-admission process.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Social Work or a related field preferred.
Experience:
- Must have experience with ASAM criteria and working in a behavioral health setting.
- Strongly preferred: Experience managing referrals from criminal justice systems, acute care hospitals, or CRCs.
- Admissions experience is a plus but not required.
