Description We are looking for a meticulous and detail-oriented Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join our team in Edgewood, Maryland. This role is essential in ensuring the accurate processing of payroll and benefits administration while maintaining compliance and confidentiality. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and a commitment to providing excellent support to employees and leadership.
Responsibilities:
• Process payroll by collecting, auditing, and entering employee data accurately.
• Update payroll records to reflect changes in wages, deductions, department transfers, and other adjustments.
• Verify timesheet data and prepare payroll information for submission to processing vendors.
• Prepare and distribute payroll reports while ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Administer employee health and welfare programs, including health, dental, vision, and disability insurance.
• Facilitate benefit enrollment for new hires, life events, and changes in eligibility status.
• Reconcile monthly benefit reports and invoices, addressing discrepancies as needed.
• Provide support for retirement benefits, including 401(k) contributions, loans, and hardship withdrawals.
• Serve as the liaison for quarterly 401(k) meetings and ensure compliance with pension calculations.
• Maintain employee files with precision and confidentiality, ensuring compliance with regulations. Requirements • Proven experience in payroll administration and benefits management.
• Familiarity with multi-state payroll processes and bi-weekly payroll cycles.
• Proficiency in HRIS systems such as UKG Pro or UltiPro.
• Strong understanding of FMLA, workers' compensation, and retirement benefits administration.
• Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to handle sensitive employee information.
• Knowledge of SPHR certification or equivalent is preferred.
• Ability to reconcile complex reports and resolve discrepancies effectively.
• Excellent communication skills for providing support and guidance to employees and leadership.
