The AFRL Munitions Directorate (RW) seeks to hire a DR-03, Deputy Branch Chief for the Global Strike Branch (RWIG) within the Technology Integration Division (RWI) at Eglin AFB in Valparaiso, Florida. The ideal candidate will have experience of leading and managing diverse, multi-functional teams, managing systems engineering processes, executing Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) processes and tools, and developing and integrating weapons systems. Position duties include, but are not limited to: Serves as the Deputy Chief for programs within the Global Strike Branch and reports directly to the Branch Materiel Leader Applies engineering experience involving the application of electronics, mechanical, systems, aerospace, and/or other engineering disciplines to plan, organize, lead, and coordinate research projects and/or processes. The ability to leverage diverse engineering practices, techniques, and processes (Digital Engineering, Model-Based Systems Engineering, and Weapon Open System Architectures) to identify and resolve issues, as well as ensure resolutions are consistent with program objectives, existing policies, and procedures. The ability to lead and perform analyses and use systematic, disciplined, and quantifiable approaches to manage projects related to munitions and air-delivered weapons. The ability to determine how best to accomplish multi-disciplinary engineering objectives, develops and evaluates alternatives, designs, and conducts experiments, analyzes, and interprets results, publishes papers and technical reports, delivers presentations of results, and monitors in-house activities. Makes recommendations to AFRL Materiel Leaders and Program Managers on technologies to proceed with maturation and development. Demonstrates creativity and foresight by identifying, preparing, and presenting detailed reports and briefings on new concepts and technical directions impacting programs/projects, and defining future technology requirements. Prepares technical reports and evaluates technical proposals. Collaborates, interacts, coordinates, and/or directly consults with AF, other governments, DoD, academic, and industry partners. Maintains technical and programmatic cognizance of outside technological and research projects and programs and reports status to senior technical leaders. Organizes, manages, and participates in workshops and technical exchange meetings, as required. Qualification requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions. Required Qualifications: US Citizenship. Must possess an engineering degree from an accredited academic institution and provide transcripts when applying. Must have at least one year of specialized experience at the DR-02/GS-13 or equivalent grade level. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret / SCI security clearance. This position is a Drug Testing position. This position is an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) position requiring Practitioner Non-Critical certification in Engineering and Technical Management. The selectee will have 24-months to meet APDP requirements or a waiver must be obtained. Applicants for this position must list any acquisition certifications in their resume. Desired Qualifications: At least five years of experience with primary duties in weapons systems engineering Experience in adapting systems engineering processes, procedures, and practices to utilize agile and flexible digital transformation methods and techniques Experience with MBSE tools and practices Ability to lead diverse, multi-functional teams Experience working with or within the Department of Defense research community Experience working for multiple organizations and with external stakeholders Ability to create technology roadmaps to meet warfighter requirements Ability to cultivate a professional, respectful environment of cooperation, cohesion, and teamwork Experience briefing senior leaders A Master of Science Degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited school is highly desired. Diversity of experience, including successfully completed assignments in multiple organizations across at least two geographic locations Completion of Intermediate Developmental Education Excellent technical communication ability to include briefings, reports, and papers.
