Amentum Aircraft Sheet Metal Mechanic in Elizabeth City, North Carolina

  • Repair and overhaul the aircraft structure, flight surfaces to return the aircraft to air worthy condition.

  • Replace or repair worn or damaged airframe surfaces.

  • Inspect parts for wear, cracks, security, corrosion or other defects.

  • Maintain, repair and modify aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty.

  • Receive technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician.

  • Perform sheet-metal, plastic, and composite depot level repairs on aircraft by utilizing documents listed in DMPCs.

  • Perform major airframe repairs or modifications.

  • Perform airframe repairs that utilize various glues, resins, fiberglass, epoxy, pro-seal and/or other chemical reactive consumables as per applicable aircraft technical references.

  • May work in Aircraft maintenance hangar or outside.

  • May be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure.

  • May be exposed to extreme noise from turbine and jet engine aircraft.

  • May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; may be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts, vehicles, or aircraft.

Revelent Experience:

  • Basic knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair.

  • Basic knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers.

  • Working knowledge of technical publications.

  • Working knowledge of corrosion control techniques and base, federal and company procedures for handling and disposal of hazardous waste materials.
