Kforce Storage and Data Protection Administrator in Ewing, New Jersey

Kforce has a client that is looking for a Storage and Data Protection Administrator in Mercer County, NJ.Summary:The Storage and Data Protection Administrator will select, evaluate, install, and configure data protection solutions and perform day-to-day operational management of the data protection environment. They are responsible for the configuration and testing of data recovery solutions designed to respond to disaster recovery and malware related events and will be the planning and technical lead for the team in performing data recoveries during Disaster Recovery exercises. The Storage and Data Protection Administrator is responsible for the installation and configuration of storage solutions and day-to-day operational management of the storage environment(s).Responsibilities:

  • Plan and perform environment refresh and migrations

  • Identify opportunities to improve data and systems security

  • Develop new or enhance existing data protection procedures and solutions

  • Review daily reports and resolve issues

  • Take ownership of incidents, analyze, enlist help and work to identify root cause

  • Act as primary focal point for troubleshooting issues, even if outside of core competencies

  • Work with various IT and business teams to identify and resolve issues whether internal, external, public cloud based, etc.

  • Storage management: block and NAS capacity allocations, SAN zoning, etc.

  • Maintain storage applications: patching, upgrades, feature configuration

  • Monitoring and performance analysis of the storage and backup components

  • Perform data backup and recovery activities

  • Manage change requests, work orders and support tickets and see them through to completion

  • Identify and deliver solutions for on premise, cloud, and hybrid environments

  • Apply appropriate security concepts, controls, and processes

  • Participate in annual business continuity planning (BCP) and disaster recovery (DR) testing

  • 5 years of experience working in a production Information Technology environment

  • 3 years of experience managing Data Protection solutions/environments

  • Significant experience working in support of a production IT environment

  • Experience supporting virtual environments and operating systems: Windows, VMware, Linux, AWS-EC2

  • Experience in documenting procedures, environments, and project work

  • Able to participate in a 7-day on call rotation and occasional weekend work

Hands-on experience with configuration and management of some of the following technologies:

  • Data Protection: Commvault, Veeam, N2WS (CPM), AWS Backup

  • Network Attached Storage (NAS): EMC Isilon, AWS FSx

  • Object storage: AWS S3

  • Block storage: EMC Unity, EMC VNXe, PURE X-series

  • Storage networking: Cisco MDS, DCNM

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
