The Canada Operations Line 1B Risk and Controls team partners with various Operations business/product lines such as Group Benefits, Insurance, Affinity and Shared Services, to promote risk awareness and management of day-to-day risk reduction activities. This team is seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and analytical individual as the Operational Risk & Control Analyst who will support Canada Operations in execution of the core components of its Operational Risk Management Framework.
This is an individual contributor role which requires successful collaboration with team members in Canada as well as with business and functional areas subject matter experts and other stakeholders including ORM, Legal, Finance, HR, IT and Compliance.
The Operational Risk & Control Analyst participates in the review and documentation of the key risks and controls in the Risk and Control Inventory. As part of their responsibilities, they identify control gaps and propose corrective action plans to remediate gaps. He / She ensures that appropriate control monitoring and testing is performed.
The successful candidate will have an in-depth background and expertise in the Operations business unit processes, in addition to experience with internal controls and /or the management of operational risks. A keen ability to build relationships with the impacted stakeholders. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills and the ability to think outside the box offering multiple options for solutions.
Position Responsibilities:
Collect, review and manage Reportable Events by ensuring they are logged in timely and that corrective actions plans (CAPs) are developed and implemented within the given deadlines.
Complete deep dives into root cause of control breakdowns leading to operational losses, by evaluating impact and recommending new controls where gaps have been identified.
Complete reporting to identify new incidents and complete follow up on upcoming recovery tasks.
Collaborate with front line managers to assess Business Continuity Plans (BCP) and document business impact analysis of key processes and mitigation of risk within the required timelines.
Support Canada Operations Leaders in performing access reviews for ACLs, SharePoint sites and Systems
Work with the Operational Leaders to review and respond to audit findings and recommendations, and ensure audit points are closed within the expected timeframe
Improve current processes adding value and efficiencies
Collaborate with key partners such as Operational Leaders, Operations Risk Management teams and Internal/External auditors
Required Qualifications:
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Highly organized with an ability to work in a fast-paced, multi stakeholder environment and manage multiple priorities.
Strong analytical skills and ability to review patterns in large data sets
Ability to identify and articulate risk and impact to the business and challenge the status quo.
Ability to assimilate and interpret risk data to reach conclusions regarding the type and level of risk across the business.
Independently motivated to find new ways to address issues, confront barriers and seek out information for the benefit of the business.
Ability and confidence to ask pertinent questions and adjust thinking when new facts are presented.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance and / or industry certificate in operational risk and or 3-5 years of related experience with good understanding of business processes, risks and controls or exposure to business unit operational functions and projects that incorporate the usage of operational risk management methodologies.
Knowledge of Insurance, Group Benefits, Affinity and or Contact Centres operations is an asset.
Familiarity with Archer record creation, maintenance and reporting is an asset.

$57,675.00 CAD - $96,125.00 CAD
