This position will work with OPI’s Early Assistance Program supporting low level dispute resolution by focusing on the needs of parents in understanding the special education process and becoming equal partners in their child’s education. The role of the Special Education Parent Liaison is to provide guidance and resources to parents in non-legal special education matters. The parent liaison will help guide a parent attempting to understand and navigate various special education or school district processes and procedures.__ _Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Behaviors):_ * Knowledge of special education and program administration. * Skills to apply federal and state laws and regulations and OPI policy. * Skills in leadership and teamwork, establishing and maintaining working relationships with coworkers, technical personnel, diverse groups of professionals, and the public. * Ability to communicate effectively with others using verbal and written communication. * Ability to work cooperatively, pooling or combining ideas, efforts, and experiences to improve innovation, efficiency, and performance of the special education unit and Early Assistance Program. _Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience_): · Bachelor’s degree in education or related field. · One year’s experience in education or related field.
