We are a leading energy company operating in the oil and gas industry, and we are seeking a talented Data Engineer specializing in the Microsoft BI Stack to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and innovative environment, leveraging your expertise to build data solutions that drive actionable insights and support critical business decisions. This position will require being onsite three days a week in the Energy Corridor of Houston, Texas, and visa transfers are eligible for this position.

Role Overview:

As a Data Engineer specializing in the Microsoft BI Stack, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data solutions using Microsoft Business Intelligence technologies. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data analysts, business stakeholders, and other engineers, to gather requirements and deliver scalable and efficient solutions. Your expertise in SSAS tabular modeling, along with your knowledge of the oil and gas industry, will be instrumental in driving the success of data projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain data solutions using the Microsoft BI Stack, including SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, and Power BI.

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and data analysts to understand requirements and translate them into scalable data models and ETL processes.

  • Develop SSAS tabular models to enable efficient analysis and reporting of large datasets.

  • Build and optimize ETL processes using SSIS to ensure efficient data extraction, transformation, and loading.

  • Perform data profiling, cleansing, and validation to ensure data accuracy and integrity.

  • Implement best practices for data security, data governance, and data quality.

  • Collaborate with the infrastructure team to optimize data infrastructure and ensure high availability and performance.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues in a timely manner.

  • Stay up to date with emerging trends and technologies in the Microsoft BI Stack and the oil and gas industry.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

  • Strong experience with the Microsoft BI Stack, including SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, and Power BI.

  • Expertise in SSAS tabular modeling, including DAX language and performance optimization.

  • Solid understanding of ETL processes, data integration, and data warehouse concepts.

  • Experience working with large datasets and complex data structures.

  • Familiarity with data visualization tools and techniques, preferably Power BI.

  • Strong SQL programming skills and proficiency in T-SQL.

  • Knowledge of the oil and gas industry, including domain-specific data and business processes, is highly desirable.

  • Ability to work onsite three days a week in the Energy Corridor of Houston, Texas.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a strong attention to detail.

  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Microsoft certifications in SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, or Power BI.

  • Experience with cloud platforms, such as Azure or AWS, and related services.

  • Knowledge of big data technologies and tools, such as Hadoop or Spark.

  • Familiarity with data streaming and real-time data processing.
