Organization Overview:

As part of the Social Media Center of Excellence and Digital Engagement organization, we are committed to using Social Media to engage with our audience, build brand awareness, and drive business growth across the globe. To further enhance our Social Media capabilities, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our team as the Social Media Capabilities Associate Director. With the digital landscape rapidly evolving with the use of generative AI, privacy laws, and new platforms emerging, we seek a leader who will maintain a continuous pulse on the external digital landscape to ensure that Lilly’s Digital Engagement experiences and solutions meet customer needs and expectations wherever and whenever they engage with us.

The Social Media Capabilities Associate Director will need to effectively partner with a wide range of cross-functional teams to drive and implement key processes, establish measurement frameworks, build, and scale new capabilities, and lead internal pilots across the US and IBU. Additionally, the role of the Associate Director of Digital Capabilities involves developing and implementing a systematic approach to building and scaling key capabilities across the organization, while leading and running various projects to find innovative ways of improving the speed and effectiveness of our campaigns. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in social media platforms, emerging technologies, project management, and will help us develop our digital footprint to become best-in-any-class as we accelerate, reach, and scale (ARS).

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as an industry expert and stays up to date with the latest social media trends, competitors, AI technologies, and standard processes, using emerging opportunities to drive continuous improvement while assessing opportunities and risks.

  • Possess in-depth understand the landscape of social media including social listening, social care/community management, strategy.

  • Deep knowledge of regulatory guidelines and compliance requirements in the pharmaceutical industry, with experience navigating regulatory challenges in marketing campaigns.

  • Maintain close connections with Platform Reps to lead frequent platform and algorithm updates across industry for performance maximization and risk mitigation.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with key collaborators and industry partners to expand social media reach and enhance brand presence.

  • Partner closely with Tech@Lilly to scale tools seamlessly globally and implement AI technology to supervise and protect our social media assets.

  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements for all new platforms and ad unit types, and adherence to company policies and industry standards in all social media activities.

  • Bolster operational and technical proficiencies across US and IBU affiliates.

  • Launch, implement, and run organizational projects to accelerate reach and scale, guiding and collaborating on key projects, removing hurdles, and identifying gaps.

  • Identify, create, and maintain operational processes and documentation to enable the scale of existing and new capabilities for the US and IBU.

  • Partner with Social Media Strategy Teams (Healthcare Professional and Direct To Consumer) to develop and implement strategic social media plans aimed at enhancing brand visibility, driving engagement, and increasing conversion rates across all relevant platforms.

  • Analyze social media performance metrics and data to measure campaign effectiveness, identify trends, and optimize strategies for improved results, collaborating with BI&A and Media partners.

  • Host informational sessions and open houses to instruct and shift how Social Media content is produced by internal and external creative partners and distill information in a clear and concise manner.

  • Drive integration by embedding crucial operational and technical expertise across affiliate teams, brands, and MLRO teams, championing innovation and standard methodologies through consistent communication and education.

  • Provide valuable insights during Global Social Media Enablement Team (GSMET) meetings to advise and identify scalable connections and capabilities for replication across US and IBU.

  • Maintain and update the Lilly Design System for Social Media tactics to facilitate compliant tactic development.

Minium Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 5+ years of experience in digital, consumer, or brand marketing strategy with a shown ability to scale commercial-facing capabilities or programs.

Additional Preferences:

  • Proficient in using social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok) and understanding their features, functionalities, and standard methodologies.

  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional projects and collaborating with multiple customer groups.

  • Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and industry trends.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a keen eye for detail.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, influence peers and leaders, and prepare the business for change, including organizational change management (OCM), meeting tight timelines, and adapting to changing priorities.

  • Strong organizational agility, with the ability to collaborate, lead, and prioritize across multiple workstreams and teams.

  • Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with evolving priorities and timeliness, with a consistent record of adapting to change and handling multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Adaptable to change, with the ability to be flexible in approach due to shifting priorities and changes in social media trends and policies.

  • Experience with social media management tools (e.g., Sprinklr or Khoros) search, and measurement technologies.

  • Experience in developing training materials.

  • Strong project management skills with attention to detail with the ability to implement.

  • Ability to understand business requirements and effectively translate them into technical terms, and vice versa.

  • Strong self-management skills with the ability to thrive in ambiguity.

  • Proactive attitude with problem-solving skills, involving collaborators as needed.
