Performance Responsibilities:

  • Supervises the total program relating to his/her assigned school.

  • Assumes responsibility for the implementation and observance of all Board policies and regulations by the school's staff and students.

  • Ensures continuous improvement in measurable student performance and achievement.

  • Provides educational leadership in implementing New York State Standards.

  • Provides educational leadership in developing, implementing, and evaluating school

  • Assists in the development, revisions, and evaluation of the curriculum.

  • Makes recommendations concerning the school's administration and instruction.

  • Budgets school time to provide for the efficient conduct of school instruction and business.

  • Participates in meetings and other activities appropriate for professional development.

  • Conducts meetings of the staff as necessary for the proper functioning of the school.

  • Supervises all professional, paraprofessional, administrative, and nonprofessional personnel attached to the school.

  • Observes and evaluates teacher performance as it relates to student learning and provides coaching, feedback, and assistance as needed.

  • Recommends the removal of a teacher whose work is unsatisfactory, according to established procedures.

  • Orients new personnel.

  • Assists in the in-service orientation and training of teachers, with special responsibility for staff administrative procedures and instructions.

  • Assists in recruiting, screening, hiring, training, and assigning the school's professional staff.

  • Assumes responsibility for the safety and administration of the school building and grounds.

  • Acts as district Chairman of the Emergency Management planning Team and the Severe Weather Alert Coordinator.

  • Acts as district contact and coordinator for the district-wide security system including but not limited to swipe card entry system, interior and exterior cameras and building fire alarms.

  • Plans and supervises fire drills and an emergency preparedness program.

  • Maintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary according due process rights to students.

  • Acts as liaison between the school and the community, interpreting activities and policies of the school and encouraging community participation in school life.

  • Facilitates positive communication among students, parents, teachers, and support staff in daily interactions.

  • Demonstrates interpersonal skills and the skill to work with diverse groups of people.

  • Develops a positive school and community relation which includes effective oral and written communications.

  • Supervises and evaluates the school's extra-curricular program.

  • Supervises the preparation of all school reports for the district office.

  • Assumes responsibility for the attendance, conduct and health of students.

  • Supervises the maintenance of accurate records on the progress and attendance of students.

  • Prepares, develops, and manages the school budget.

  • Acts as district contact and coordinator for the Common Set of Learning Outcomes (CSLO) district trainings.

  • Serves as the co-chair of the Strategic Planning Communication and Technology Committee.

  • Performs all other functions as assigned by the Superintendent.
