Wastewater Worker II
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under general supervision of the Wastewater Superintendent, the Wastewater Worker II will:
• Installs, maintains and repairs sewer systems (e.g. digs holes, trenches, backfills, connects lines to mains, inspects lines for leaks/breaks, etc.); responds to trouble calls and perform emergency repairs; line locating of sewer mains. Operate and maintain wastewater treatment plant components and collection systems. Grease and clean plant equipment; read and interpret meters and gauges; regulate/monitor plant effluent. Monitor, repair, and maintain wastewater system lift stations; remove debris; disassemble and clean pumps; perform minor repairs when necessary. Locate problems and operate sewer cleaning equipment to clear blockage.
• Draws treatment samples; performs basic chemical tests (e.g. pH, alkalinity, hardness, turbidity, etc.) maintains records of sample data; logs data; prepares summaries.
• Operates equipment utilized in the construction, repair and maintenance or water/wastewater lines (e.g. drives service trucks, operates jackhammer, power saws, drills, backhoes, dump truck, pumps, etc.).
• Performs plumbing repairs on County facilities; performs basic maintenance on County facilities.
• Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions.
• Maintains required licensures and certifications, if any.
• Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent such as a G.E.D
LICENSURE or CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to take classes to obtain valid State of Ohio Class A (with tanker endorsement) commercial driver's license after 6 months of employment; must possess a valid State of Ohio Driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the County's vehicle insurance policy.
Pay grade/Rate of Pay: Pay Grade 6: $17.55-$18.08 plus benefits and annual step increases.
