As a Trailer Mechanic, your typical day would include:
Diagnosing, servicing, and repairing all equipment as indicated on repair orders and consistent with repair standards.
Performing safety and legally required inspections (FHWA/BIT).
Maintaining parts and yard organization (with direction from operations management) to ensure a clean and safe working environment.
At the direction of the Branch Operations Manager, provide excellent service which meets and/or exceeds customer's expectations regarding quality and consistency of service provided.
High School Diploma (or GED Equivalent) Preferred
In accordance with the FMCSA Inspector Qualification Requirements, knowledge of the inspection standards of Part 393 and Appendix G, and the ability to identify defective components; and have knowledge and proficiency in methods, procedures, and tools.
At least 12 months' trailer repair experience to complete FHWA inspections and brake related repairs; or specialized training via an apprenticeship and/or trade school (exception may be made for branches with more than one mechanic)
Must possess own tools in accordance with tool sheet
Must possess current/legal driver's license
Must obtain and maintain DOT certification
As a Trailer Mechanic, you'll need one year of trailer repair experience to complete FHWA inspections consistent with the Department of Transportation requirements. The people who succeed as Trailer Mechanics have knowledge of air, electronic, braking, and suspension systems as well as general knowledge of mechanical operation and body repair.
Trailer mechanics work in a small team environment with lots of independence. They inspect and repair only semi-trailers: dry vans, refrigerated vans, and flatbeds- no prior diesel technician experience required. Our client provides uniforms and PPE, but your workspace and tools are yours to manage. With no shop foreman, you'll partner closely with your Operations Manager to manage your training and workload. Once you've mastered our repair standards, you'll enjoy a more independent work environment with your team ready to help whenever you need them.

Pay Details: $48,000.00 to $54,000.00 per year
