Science Systems and Applications, Inc., (SSAI) is looking to hire an experienced Content Strategist to join a web strategy and communications team that is responsible for improving the experience of users who are seeking to discover, download, and use NASA Earth science data.
In this position you will:
Work from broad goals to develop and execute a specific strategy;
Audit, evaluate, and consolidate existing content;
Develop editorial processes and workflows necessary to ensure that content stays up to date, is coherently crafted, and logically presented;
Manage and coordinate editorial duties (including acting in an editorial role);
Author content (a mix of descriptive and technical writing) as necessary;
Evaluate analytics for providing input and result metrics;
Develop working-level knowledge of NASA Earth science data systems;
Work with subject matter experts within Earth science, technology, and information management.
This position will require you to develop and implement content strategies with the goal of improving the use of Earth science data. You will be working within a well-established environment of content owners and stakeholders and navigating that environment will require managing divergent opinions while at the same time maintaining firm focus on the project vision.
This position is 100% virtual/telework. You will be working within a virtual team and will be required to conduct business within that virtual environment, including both audio- and video-based collaboration. In addition, this group will need to initiate contact and collaborate with other geographically dispersed teams within NASA. As such, this position requires active communication in order to maintain working relationships.
Required Qualifications:
An interest and passion for helping users find and use NASA Earth science data
Bachelor’s Degree in communications, library science, journalism, information systems or related field
5 years professional experience developing and executing content strategies for web
Technical/web writing and editing experience
Experience working in collaboration with other teams
A proactive self-starter, showing initiative
Ability to work and interact within a virtual team
Ready and willing to undertake strategic challenges
Understanding of Earth science concepts
Experience using Earth science data (particularly from NASA)
U.S. Citizen residing in the United States
Desired Skills:
Experience maintaining a website using a content management systems (CMS);
Project management;
Understanding of taxonomies, ontologies, and information architecture (IA);
Experience using SmartSheets or a related tool for maintaining an editorial calendar that can be shared across multiple teams;
Experience with UX design, user research, and interface design is a plus.
