ABOUT THE POSITION

The Clark County Justice Court- Las Vegas Department is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the PTH Specialty Courts Program Coordinator position. This position provides specialized support and case management duties associated with Justice Court- Las Vegas Specialty Courts. The position will screen for presence of mental health and substance use issues and make referral to the appropriate Specialty Court. The position will also perform office duties such as scanning documents, making copies, which may require a knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

Note: Part-time employment will not lead to permanent employment. Part-time hourly employees are used to fill positions normally less than twenty (20) hours per week. Part-time employees do not receive benefits.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience: Equivalent to two (2) years of college level course work AND two (2) years of full-time experience in interviewing clients, providing information, and determining eligibility for various social, medical or related programs. Professional level experience and/or education that has provided the skills and knowledge necessary to perform all job functions at this level may be substituted on a year-for-year basis up to two (2) years.

Working Conditions: Job duties will expose the incumbent to hostile and abusive individuals. May be required to attend meetings, presentations and events outside of normal working hours.

Licensing and Certification: Must possess a valid Nevada Class C Driver's License at time of appointment.

Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

Citizenship: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note, Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorships or transfers for any employment positions.

Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Interviews clients to obtain information, determine eligibility for various specialty court programs and assess the appropriateness of referral to other community assistance, medical or social service agencies. Obtains and verifies income, asset insurance and related information, contacts employers, banks, social security, veterans' administration, and other public and private sources as necessary. Assists clients in completing applications; provides factual information regarding various program regulations and procedures; may act as an advocate for the client with other organizations. Creates and maintains case files; maintains accurate documentation regarding all information received and actions taken. Determines the need for specific types of assistance, such as transportation, medical care, identification, or other related services. Maintains accurate logs and complies records of work performed. Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team. Enters client information into an automated database system. Uses standard office equipment in the course of the work; may drive a personal or County motor vehicle to make home visits.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment, strength to lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds, vision to read printed materials and a VDT screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
