Students adhere to a school-wide dress code and attend 200 instructional days each year—20 more than typical public schools. Additionally, the school day is 60 minutes longer than average. Job Summary:
Mystic Valley seeks a dedicated and knowledgeable Mathematics Teacher for Grades 7–12 to deliver instruction aligned with the Saxon Math curriculum and, where applicable, the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. The ideal candidate will be passionate about mathematics education, skilled in direct instruction, and committed to supporting student achievement.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging, structured math instruction aligned with the Saxon Math curriculum and, if applicable, the IB program.
Teach five mathematics classes per day, meeting daily with each assigned group.
Design and implement lessons and assessments based on clear, measurable objectives.
Regularly monitor and evaluate student progress through classwork, tests, and formal assessments.
Administer standardized assessments as directed by the Mathematics Department Chair and school leadership.
Collaborate regularly with colleagues in the mathematics department to align curriculum, share best practices, and analyze student data.
Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, grades, and performance data.
Enforce the school's assertive discipline model with consistency and fairness.
Participate fully in staff meetings, professional development, and other school-wide initiatives.
Provide academic support to students outside of class as needed.
Carry out additional duties as assigned by the Mathematics Department Chair or Assistant Director.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mathematics or a closely related field.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to interpret and analyze data to inform instruction and student support.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and families.
Proven classroom management skills and the ability to maintain a positive learning environment.
Excellent organizational and time-management abilities to meet the demands of a dynamic teaching role.
Knowledge of subject-area standards, pedagogy, and applicable laws and regulations.
Experience evaluating student work and writing clear, data-informed reports.
Commitment to high expectations for all students and a willingness to support their academic growth.
Successful completion of applicable MTEL exams within one year of employment.
Supervision and Evaluation:
This position reports to the Mathematics Department Chair. Performance is reviewed annually and the position is appointed on a yearly basis.
