AutoZone, Inc. IT Manager (Merchandising Transformation) in Memphis, Tennessee

Summary:

Come and be part of Transforming the in-store and online experience for our customers and AutoZoners. Lead multiple teams to re-engineer Merchandising catalog, pricing systems using a modern technology stack. Ensure the integrity, availability, and security for all in-store systems. Work closely with the business leaders, understand short and long-term business goals, and collaborate on plans to achieve those goals by delivering leading-edge systems using best in class SDLC and a highly motivated team. Deliver on the Organizational goals aligning with the Retail strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads teams in the development, implementation, and support of the systems for best in class experience of internal and external customers of AutoZone.

  • Develops technical talent and leadership capabilities in team members and ensures a highly motivated team through coaching and mentoring.

  • Implements Systems to maximize usability, accessibility, and customer experience.

  • Manages the planning, control and progress of system design, development and deployment activities, following agile/scrum methodologies.

  • Develops trusted and open relationships with key Operations business partners at Director and VP level.

  • Works closely with and manages vendor partner relationships as applicable.

  • Supports the company’s Retail strategic vision. Works with the IT VP, Director and the CIO in the development of systems strategy in support of that vision.

  • Coordinates between internal and external resources, ensuring effective communication between all groups and individuals involved in projects.

  • Leads all projects under the rules and guidelines of the Project Management Office (PMO). Ensures all PMO documentation is produced to high standards.

  • Oversees project financials and ensures adherence to AutoZone’s fiscal policies

    Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field

  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years total experience in IT development with some experience in the retail industry.

  • Understand modern engineering practices and champion them with the team.

  • Demonstrable background in building highly responsive systems that are reliable and fault tolerant with built in observability to ensure smooth operability.

  • Experience implementing systems using modern technology stacks within the Datacenter or Public/Private cloud infrastructures

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a managerial position in a technology group with a proven track record for business capability delivery and talent development.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and analytical skills, including the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts and designs to a broad range of people

  • Experience using Agile (Scrum/Kanban/SAFe/XP) project development methodologies

  • Willingness to learn and adapt to changing business and technology landscapes

    Preferred but not required

  • Experience in retail technologies preferred but not required

  • Experience with Merchandising domain

  • Experience implementing 3rd party software (COTS – common off the shelf) packages
