Job Description:

Plans, schedules, coordinates and/or monitors final approval of products through the complete production cycle to meet production requirements. Works from engineering plans and production specifications to ensure materials are provided according to schedules. Advises management of the status of work in progress, coordinates with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain and interfaces with engineering and program management as well as external customers. Ensures availability of materials and labor to meet production requirements and delivery commitments. Works to achieve operational targets with moderate impact on departmental results. Contributes to the completion of specific programs and projects. Exerts some influence on the overall objectives of the project.

Essential Functions:

  • Production Planner plans, schedules, coordinates and/or monitors products through the complete production cycle of mature production program units to meet requirements

  • Advises operations of the status of work in progress & risks to meeting internal master schedule

  • Effective collaboration and coordination with manufacturing assemblers/technicians, material management, product line managers, manufacturing engineers and quality are critical to the role

  • Ensures availability of materials and labor to meet production requirements and delivery commitments

  • Works to resolve labor and material shortages, backlogs and other potential schedule interruptions

  • Works to resolve labor and material shortages, backlogs and other potential schedule interruptions

  • Releases work orders to production floor based on internal master schedule, part availability and current capacity

  • May provide guidance and assistance to support level employees

  • Must be able to communicate clearly (written and verbal) to technical and non-technical internal customers

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience or In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

    Preferred Additional Skill

  • Must have understanding of ERP Manufacturing Planning Systems, ideally Costpoint.

  • Experience and understanding of requirements in the requisitioning, purchasing, stocking, control and issuance of inventory.

  • Experience with fabricating, wire and assemble electromechanical sub assemblies, assemblies, and systems. Capable of generating moderately complex spreadsheets and reports utilizing: Microsoft Excel (pivot tables) and Microsoft Word
