Job Title: Junior Civil Engineer
Job Description
The successful individual will work on commercial and multifamily residential projects, serve as a member of a design team, and assist in coordinating site civil designs to meet project objectives, schedules, and budgets, while working directly under licensed Engineers. This is a full-time position. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4-6 years of experience in residential site design, with an emphasis on grading, drainage, stormwater management, paving, and permitting.
Responsibilities
Perform engineering tasks in the site/civil engineering field through the development of a working knowledge of applicable design criteria, regulatory requirements, standards, and processes.
Work on multiple projects concurrently while being flexible and able to adapt to a changing environment.
Perform site visits, investigation, data collection, review and interpretation of available site plans, survey mapping and review of agency regulations.
Assist project managers/engineers with the design of grading, earthwork analysis, and stormwater management designs.
Possess an in-depth knowledge and understanding of site civil design, permitting, and construction plan preparation, and be proficient in using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D to create design plans and details.
Prepare cost estimates and specifications based on design drawings.
Prepare written correspondence including proposals, Site Investigation Reports, Grading and Drainage Reports, paving assessments, and other required reports.
Demonstrate a willingness to expand knowledge base via in-house training and/or self-training.
Work within a design team to develop Site plans using AutoCAD including grading, green infrastructure, trail/pedestrian facilities, erosion & sediment control plans and details, utility distribution systems, potable water system design, sanitary sewer design, stormwater management system design, and associated calculations.
Prepare associated calculations and spreadsheets.
Provide own transportation and have a valid driver's license.
Essential Skills
4+ years of Civil Land Development Design experience
Ability to design in AutoCAD
Experience in stormwater and grading design
Additional Skills & Qualifications
BSCE from an ABET-accredited civil engineering program
EIT certification is a plus
4-6 years of site/civil engineering experience with the ability/plan to obtain a P.E. license
Fluent in English with strong technical, written, and verbal communication skills
Ability to learn and apply new skills quickly and efficiently
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Proficient in the use of AutoCAD for developing site, grading, and drainage plans
Ability to follow direction in completing design tasks
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Strong organizational skills and critical thinking abilities
Work samples for grading in AutoCAD are preferred
Work Environment
The role involves being on-site 5 days a week, with approximately 2/3 of the time spent in the office and 1/3 in the field for inspection and assessment. The work environment is a small office setting, ensuring accessibility to leadership for work discussions. The civil division is (3 years old), offering significant room for upward growth. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $38.46
