Job Description
Operates Computed Tomography equipment, prepares for examination, and ensures proper information has been obtained for the physician to make a diagnosis. Assists in the management of patient flow and presents images mounted for physician diagnosis. Operates x-ray and auxiliary equipment and processes images. Maintains and cleans equipment. Maintains required documentation.
Job Responsibility
Prepares patient for examination.
Explains procedure in layman terms to relieve patient of pretesting anxiety.
Administers oral contrast material for abdominal scans.
Sets-up equipment to administer the procedure.
Ensures patient is screened according to protocol, and assures consent for the procedure has been obtained, when necessary.
Monitors patient condition.
Maintains observation of the patient during the entire examination.
Recognizes and promptly reports to the physician, changes in the patient's condition and/or motor abnormality complaints by the patient including: fainting, discoloration, contrast reactions etc.
Performs CT procedures to include: abdominal, thoracic, all neuro exams, extremities, sub-periosteal implant planning, radiation therapy treatment planning, biopsies etc.
Places patient on the exam table and positions within the gantry.
Keys in patient history data and other pertinent information obtained from a requisition including anatomical area of interest, slice thickness and pulse sequences.
Calculates the number of scans to be obtained based on patient size and operates the equipment ensuring the required images were obtained as ordered by the Radiologist.
Contacts Radiologist to review and ascertain whether additional scanning is required when appropriate. Transmits cases to on-call Radiologist through the use of Tele-Radiology system.
Operates equipment for the transfer of computed images to film and the archival of disc memory to tape.
Assists with administration of I.V contrast.
Prepares patients for roentgen graphic and or fluoroscopy examinations, as required.
Operates x-ray and auxiliary equipment and processes images. Maintains equipment in efficient operating condition, makes minor adjustments and cleans equipment.
Maintains work area in efficient operating condition.
Sets up and operates stationary and mobile x-ray equipment.
Prepares and maintains required documentation.
Performs various x-ray exams according to established standards, procedures and procedures of the division. Positions patient for taking of radiographs according to the departmental standard operating procedures. Arranges, attaches, or adjusts immobilization and supportive devices for patients. Adjusts the x-ray equipment and operates controls to obtain correct exposure Monitors patient's condition in accordance with technical and safety standards.
Processes and maintains exposed images. Labels film for identification and maintains required records. Utilizes film markers and ensures images are properly marked as the right or left side. Ensures images are legibly labeled with correct date and patient identification. Enters the exam onto the daily log sheet as needed. Properly completes the correct tracking steps for each examination.
Facilitates patient flow and transport, as necessary.
Performs related duties, as required.
Job Qualification
Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program, required.
New York State Department of Health licensure as a Radiologic Technologist, required.
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Registered Technologist (R.T.) required. ARRT registration in Computed Tomography (CT) required within eighteen (18) months of entry date into position.
Previous experience as a Radiology Technologist including CT experience, required.

When determining a team member's base salary and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity).
The salary range for this position is $59.94-$59.94/hour
