Summary: This position plans, organizes, coordinates, and monitors the performance, safety, training, and work activities of articulated haul operators. Also ensures plant equipment and process control conform to established production quality, quantity, and safety parameters. Assignments are largely routine in nature and carried out in accordance with general work instructions, practices, procedures, and precedents. This employee is one of 4 reporting to the Area Supervisor.

The ideal candidate will be safety-minded, dependable, and motivated and have may have experience operating an Articulated Haul Truck such as JD460, VolvoA45G, Cat 745, or Komatsu HM400. And, various loaders, Dozers, and, excavators.

Essential Job Functions: Include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provides orientation for all new, or transferred employees to ensure their understanding of working expectations and safety standards and procedures. Structures a learning environment conducive to the attainment of required operator skills.

  • Determines and /or monitors the subsequent training needs of subordinates to provide skill improvements that align with present and future business requirements. Coordinates, and identified training needs with the Superintendent.

  • Plans, organizes, coordinates, and monitors operator’s activities to ensure:

  • Optimal safety of area personnel is attained.

  • Production schedules and quality standards are achieved.

  • Operating costs are contained through efficient use of personnel, machinery, materials, and operating procedure

  • Questions, concerns, and requests are addressed in a timely manner.

  • Performance standards are met.

  • Routinely inspect plant/ponds equipment for operational integrity. Initiates work, or work orders, required to retain equipment in proper operating condition.

  • Completes all required documents including, but not limited to, production reports, time cards, performance documentation, and safety reports in a timely and accurate fashion.

  • Conducts meaningful performance reviews with subordinates. Ensures operators meet established safety/performance standards.

  • Performs other assignments as directed by the Area Superintendent not otherwise depicted in this general description.

  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Minimum Required Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Must have 3 years’ experience leading a team in a construction and/or industrial (heavy equipment) environment.

  • Must have verifiable experience demonstrative of effective team building and leadership abilities.

  • Prefer undergraduate degree and or specialized equipment certification.
