Registered Nurse - Pulmonary Unit
A Brief Overview
This is a Full time- 36 hour a week position on our Pulmonary unit. It is Day /Night rotating, 12 hour shifts, every third weekend. This position requires 1 year of previous RN work experience.
Deliver compassionate, culturally effective care as a Registered Nurse. Our nurses coordinate all facets of patient care, collaborate with diverse healthcare professionals, and can progress to managing the most complex cases in their clinical area.

Responsibilities
Deliver family-centered care guided by CHOP's Nursing Professional Practice Model.
Develop, evaluate, and revise patients' plans of care throughout their hospitalization.
Gather and analyze data to inform the care team and delegate tasks.
Promote excellent patient outcomes by adhering to evidence-based practices, nursing standards, and safety procedures.
Identify and address safety concerns or ethical dilemmas with unit leadership.
Develop effective partnerships with the interdisciplinary care team.
Adopt healthcare technology and clinical practice changes in a fast-paced environment.
Maintain CEUs for nursing licensure and comply with annual nursing competencies and mandatory education.
Education
Required: Technical diploma- Nursing
Preferred: Bachelor's degree- Nursing
Experience
Required: At least one (1) year RN experience
Preferred: Prior experience in pediatrics or area of specialty
Skills and Abilities
Use of patient-facing technology (IV pumps, point-of-care devices, CR monitors)
Ability to gather and assess clinical information using appropriate healthcare technology
Licenses and Certifications
Required (upon hire at a Pennsylvania location): Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) or Nursing Temporary Practice Permit (Pennsylvania) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board
Required (upon hire at a New Jersey location): Registered Nurse (New Jersey) or Nursing Temporary Practice Permit (New Jersey) - New Jersey State Licensing Board
Required (upon hire): Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification issued by an organization that appoints a hands-on instructor to lead psychomotor skills verification (i.e., American Heart Association or Red Cross).
About the Unit
8 South/8 Central: Pulmonary
34 bed unit which specializes in the care of patients of all ages with pulmonary issues. Many of our patients have compromised lung function since birth secondary to prematurity and other co-morbidities often including neurological and developmental challenges. We also have a specialized population of children who are on multiple consulting services and require intensive care coordination. Typically these children have a longer length of stay and/or may be patients on our unit intermittently throughout their lives. Our third cohort of patients includes general pediatric patients with medical problems. Family centered care and excellent teamwork are at the core of our practice, and we welcome nurses of all experience levels who are committed to those core values. We are highly regarded for our strong track record in assimilating new graduate nurses into this fast-paced environment where acuity is high and strong time management and critical thinking skills are required for success.
