Project Overview:
For more than 70 years, Atomic Weapons Enterprise (AWE) has supported the UK Government’s nuclear defence strategy and the Continuous at Sea Deterrent. They use nuclear know-how and technical expertise to provide innovative solutions that support the UK’s counter-terrorism and nuclear threat reduction activities. Job Summary:
This position is for a Systems Engineer who will work within a multi-year United Kingdom (UK) nuclear infrastructure programme for which Bechtel will provide PMO (including Project, Engineering, Commercial and Construction Management) services.
This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership
Major Responsibilities:
Develop system models using Model Based Systems Engineering methods and tools (e.g., IBM® Rationale DOORS®).
Define facility/system functions, behaviors, and other design requirements, prepare the criteria documents and coordinates and facilitates technical discussion to resolve system design issues.
Co-ordinate system-level design verification, requirements verification, test requirements specifications, and requirements flow down and traceability.
Co-ordinate work and collaborates with other engineering disciplines.
Provide technical assistance to other Systems personnel and interacts with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues.
Provides assistance to project management in identifying and complying with project Systems requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Systems, or other engineering discipline from an accredited university or college with extensive progressive relevant technical experience.
Candidate must be able to obtain SC.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Possess a detailed understanding of Systems Engineering principles and methods, requirements management principles, and methods.
Possess an awareness of environmental and Department of Defense regulations and their influence on design. Experience facilitating multi-discipline meetings to resolve technical and related requirements compliance issues.
Excellent oral and written communications skills
Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional Registration in a Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering.
Experience in performing design and/or requirements change impact analyses.
Experience with systems engineering on DOE or DOD projects.
Familiarity with implementation of nuclear safety and requirements in design.
Experience working on a large, complex EPC contract.
Experience working with requirements management databases.
Knowledge of systems engineering a benefit, ideally within a nuclear or other highly regulated environment.
Experience working within a nuclear site a benefit.
Ability to produce high quality, complex documentation.
Experience facilitating multi-discipline meetings to resolve technical and related requirements compliance issues.
Ability to read and understand engineering documents and drawings.
