We are adding a Product Owner Advisor to our Consumer and Commercial Payments Team. This team is responsible for providing superior products that are used by our customers to ensure the successful movement of electronic payments. This position will contribute to the software development process by interpreting business needs and translating business value into a clear product vision. This position will serve as the final authority on an agile team for prioritization, value and functionality.
This Product Owner must be a seasoned, experienced professional with a background in FINTECH or payments that is capable of providing solutions for complex and diverse products. You will use your broad expertise or unique knowledge to contribute to our organizations objectives and serve as a SME (Subject Matter Expert) in the financial industry.
This position can be worked remotely from the United States, but the candidate will be working in the Eastern Time Zone hours.
What you’ll be responsible for:
Collaborates and engages with business owners and stakeholders.
Collaborates with product team and stakeholders to define roadmap, release plans, and Minimum Viable Product (MVP) to achieve company strategic goals.
Cross-collaboration within the organization to obtain feedback from support teams on product or feature.
Capably reports the product status and strategic vision to the team as well as outside the team.
Makes business decisions by creating epics, features, and stories so that their agile team understands product outcome objectives.
Leads stakeholder meetings and encourages innovative ideas from agile team members and stakeholders.
Creates, maintains, prioritizes, and sequences their product backlog based on business value or ROI.
Creates user stories and acceptance criteria based on the Voice of the Customer (VOC) that are granular enough for a single sprint.
Prioritizes user stories and defects/bugs to seed a sprint’s backlog based on business value.
Participates in organizational backlog prioritization, sprint and release planning, daily stand-ups, demos/reviews, retrospectives, product backlog refinements, and other Scrum-related ceremonies.
Reviews deliverable and demonstrable code after every sprint, accepting or rejecting based on value.
Develops and maintains standards for progress visibility and their team’s ‘definition of done’ for all tasks.
Provides summary information on new features to Communications and Education teams.
Coordinates pilot testing of new products and features, and seeds backlog with recommended improvements.
Collaborates with the team’s Scrum Master to build a self-organized team.
Serves as a resource and/or participant in business process re-design activities. Assists the customer in determining if and how system enhancements may improve process flow and business function.
May perform application, system, and regression tests.
Assists less experienced peers.
May perform other job duties as assigned.
What you’ll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree required.
Minimum of 10 years of experience as a product owner.
Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO) certification(s).
Must have experience in one of the following industries: FINTECH, Payments, or Financial.
Must have project management experience.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills that invoke humility, excellence, and good judgment with teams, customers and other stakeholders.
Must have the ability to define system and functional requirements, meet aggressive deadlines, and have the ability to evaluate the intangibles of situations and data.
