POSITION SUMMARY:

In accordance with department policy and objectives, the GPS assists in maintaining patient and staff safety by implementing various diversionary strategies, and assisting in delegated nursing care.

JOB DUTIES:

Typical duties include the following:

  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills to help implement healthcare interventions at the direction of the bedside nurse.

  • Assisting patients with ambulation, hygiene, nutrition, linen changes, and other activities of daily living.

  • Identifying potential risks and early signs of escalating patient behaviors (e.g. agitation, confusion, anxiety).

  • Incorporating therapeutic and diversionary interventions to maintain patient safety, refocus the patient, and promote healthy behaviors.

  • Keeping patient and staff safety at the forefront, engaging the patient in reduction techniques to maintain safety.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

Preferred:

  • AAS degree in psychology/sociology or 1-2 years of healthcare related experience such as: PCT, CAN, or psychiatric technician or Bachelor¿s degree in human services.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $ 17.51 - $ 23.64 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job¿s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
