Senior Director, Data Science

We are seeking a visionary and experienced Senior Director of Applied Science and ML Engineering to lead our AI/GEN AI initiatives. You will:

  • Lead a team of applied scientists and ML engineers in the development and deployment of AI driven customer/internal facing products

  • Own the full AI/ML lifecycle from prototype to deployment, ensuring the solutions are robust, scalable, and aligned with AI-product needs

  • Develop technical vision, long-term strategy and set direction for the team and the organization

Essential Requirements:

  • PhD or Master's degree in Technology, Computer Science, Machine Learning or equivalent quantitative field

  • 15+ years experience of applied science or complex software systems, especially involving deep learning, machine learning, LLMs that have been successfully delivered

  • 5+ years in a management role overseeing applied scientists and/or ML/MLOps engineers

  • Knowledge of ML, NLP, Information Retrieval, Recommender Systems and LLMs

  • Experience with container & orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes etc) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP or Azure)

  • Ability to develop a long-term vision and execute strategies at scale while maintaining a grasp of technical details for better decision-making

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Desirable Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with team members and pursue innovative projects. Experience in managing end-to-end AI projects including identification of customer needs, problem formulation, solution development, and deployment

  • Familiarity with state-of-the-art AI techniques, including Retrieval-Augmented Generation and large language models, reflecting current trends and advancements in the field

Compensation

Dell is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this position is $262,650 - $339,900
