Open Rank Faculty- Clerkship Curriculum (Savannah)Job ID: 258346Location: Augusta UniversityFull/Part Time: Full TimeRegular/Temporary:*Job SummaryJob ID: 258346Position #: 40055474The Medical College of Georgia (MCG) at Augusta University (AU) seeks a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor to provide academic administrative oversight responsibility for MCG medical students at the Savannah Campus, including all clinical teaching sites and teaching faculty in Savannah and Southeast Georgia. This faculty member will hold an administrative post of Campus Assistant Dean for Clerkship Curriculum (Savannah). Medical education program administration will be the primary responsibility, but this individual will also serve as regional coordinator and liaison for student affairs, student research, and voluntary faculty continuous professional development (CPO). Working with the Campus Associate Dean for Curriculum and the Associate Dean for Regional Campus Coordination, this faculty member will be expected to develop, implement, and assess all clinical teaching experiences for MCG medical students at sites in Southeast Georgia. This individual will be responsible for the assessing and continuously improving quality of the educational experiences at all MCG-affiliated community teaching sites in Southeast Georgia, based primarily on student evaluations and faculty feedback. research, and voluntary faculty continuous professional development.Responsibilities Assume primary responsibility for locally administrating a geographically separated clinical campus that complies with all Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) expectations. Work with Georgia Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) to identify student housing in association with potential new clinical teaching sites in agreed-upon clerkship disciplines. Sites could be community-based practice sites in the Savannah area, but also include development of clinical teaching sites and new longitudinal integrated clerkships (LICs) throughout SE Georgia. Work with MCG, the Georgia AHEC, and St. Joseph/Candler Hospital to maintain on-going medical staff CPO in education skills for the voluntary clinical faculty members, including the annual Jekyll Island MCG Faculty Development Conference. Liaise with appropriate individuals at MCG and Southeast Georgia to coordinate and oversee all aspects of the students\' educational experience in region, and coordinate programming when appropriate with other regional and 4-year MCG campuses. Collaborate with the Associate Dean for Regional Campus Coordination, Associate Dean for Curriculum, Senior Associate Dean for Evaluation, Accreditation and Continuous Quality Improvement, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, and MCG Curriculum Oversight Committee to develop, implement, and evaluate & assess high quality clinical learning experiences. Interact closely with MCG students while they are on rotations in Savannah and Southeast Georgia. This includes meeting with each student and providing (or ensuring they receive) feedback on their performance, ensuring timely accurate completion of all evaluations, ensuring students\' compliance with meeting the learning objectives & expectations of the rotations (e.g., electronic tracking of experiences, completing evaluations), and ensuring delivery of core curriculum content. This activity is closely coordinated with the site Clerkship Directors from each of the MCG clerkship departments. Develop and implement student support services that are commensurate with the MCG parent campus for advising, counseling, and health care.Required QualificationsM.D. or D.O.; Ed.D. or Ph.D. terminal degreeAcademic qualifications necessary for an MCG faculty appointmentAt least 5 years ofexperience in academic program administration at an LCME-accredited medical school; candidates with curriculum and/or program development experienc preferredWillingness and capacity to travel to site
