Description
Robert Half is partnering with a well-established company to find a Database Administrator. This position is ideal for an ambitious problem solver who has highly tuned decision-making skills. This long-term contract / temporary to hire opportunity that is primarily remote. With occasional trips to Savannah, Georgia.
Responsibilities
Restore service to databases as outages happen, including after hours and on weekends
Ensure the design and execution of database server topology, configuration, and maintenance meet SLA objectives
Give advice on database design, tuning options, and other possible issues
Manage all database instances across development, staging, and production environments, handling installation, configuration, and maintenance
Establish the baseline for system performance, recognize deviation, and suggest and implement improvements to slow running queries
Configure monitoring utilities for databases to keep false alarms to a minimum
Improve performance with the most effective solution, such as hardware purchases, server configuration changes, or index/query changes
Requirements - Aptitude for adjusting queries to improve performance
Strong knowledge of relational database management systems
Prior experience in production and on-call environments
Foundational knowledge in Database Backup
SQL Database experience
Command of Performance Tuning
Deep understanding of Database optimization
General familiarity with storage and server hardware required
4+ years of database experience
