Spectrum 2025 Summer Intern: Financial Reporting in St Louis, Missouri

What you can expect in this role

As a Spectrum Intern, you’ll be essential to two teams — your respective department and your Intern peer group. Department and team-focused projects account for about 80% of your schedule. You’ll spend the other 20% on professional development sessions and networking activities, including the Kickoff Conference on May 28th, webinars, community service, cross-functional project, and final presentations.

Internship responsibilities may include

  • Charter’s Financial Reporting Intern will have the opportunity to support the Financial Reporting Department in project-based work such as:

  • Facilitate and drive consistency of internal controls across the organization through narrative standardization

  • Attend SOX walkthroughs for business processes and related systems

  • Assist with flowchart documentation to capture the data flow for business processes

  • Assist with documentation requests from the internal and external audit teams to support the financial statements and internal controls

  • Use various software applications to collect and assist in review of ESG data

  • Assist the External Reporting team with preparation of the financial statement and footnote tie-outs for quarterly SEC filings and earnings materials

  • Assist the External Reporting team with preparation of the Disclosure Checklist for quarterly SEC filings

  • Assist the Technical Accounting team in review of contracts and accounting arrangements for the appropriate accounting and presentation of conclusions to key company personnel

  • Support and interact with various departments throughout the Company, including Corporate Accounting, Tax, and Internal Audit

Here’s what it takes to get started

Required qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited College or University completing a Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Degree

  • Must have at least a 3.0 GPA or greater in current program

  • Ability to travel locally to Spectrum Intern development events and activities throughout the program

  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for future sponsorship

Preferred qualifications

  • Studying and planning to pursue a CPA license

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Strong organizational and planning skills, ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously

  • Strong analytical problem solving and critical thinking skills

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Works well in a team environment
