    Position Specifications

Incumbent in this position works closely with the Commissioner of Parks and is responsible for supervising subordinate staff and analyzing department or division operations, policies, procedures and issues for the purposes of advising the department and division head. Duties include: managing and monitoring Parks Division budget funds and assisting in budget preparation; processing purchase orders, invoices, and requisitions through Oracle and managing contracts and leases; representing Parks Division at Forest Park Forever meetings as well as other community and government-related meetings; and managing all administrative and disciplinary matters that include grievances, service ratings, and the hiring of all permanent and seasonal staff.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Public or Business Administration, or a related field; plus five years of administrative and/or managerial experience including at least two years of advanced level experience analyzing, developing, and recommending programs, policies and procedures; advising upper level management on management and policy issues; and handling financial and budgetary issues. OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

CITY RESIDENTS PREFERENCE POINTS: City residents who pass an examination for a position in the classified service and do not receive any other preference will receive a five (5) point preference on a scale of 100 points on the exam. An additional one (1) point shall be added to the passing score of City residents who receive any other preference on a scale of 100 points. City residents must have resided in the City for at least one (1) year at the time of filing their application to be eligible for the preference points.
