Job Description
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Focus Factory Manager has overall responsibility for the safety, environmental, quality and production of an operating unit. The FFM determines and directs operations, plans, policies, and organization consistent with Company policies and directly supervises their applications to the plant’s manufacturing operations. The FFM is also responsible for implementing strategy and standards to drive best practices and continuous improvement to assist the operating unit with compliance and risk mitigation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Ensure that the operating capabilities of assigned complex are operated and maintained safely, efficiently and effectively.
Implement and maintain Performance Excellence and Continuous Improvement programs and processes in the complex, and ensure that annual savings and operating efficiency targets are met or exceeded. Drive Continuous Improvement philosophy and practices including but not limited to Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, TPM, SMED, and 5S throughout the focus factory. Evaluate, enhance and develop metric systems that monitor and assess progress towards achieving performance goals at all appropriate organizational levels.
Ensure direct reports comply with all company and/or regulatory policies for FDA, EPA, DEA, OSHA, and all other applicable regulations.
Participate in budget preparation while tracking and establishing progress towards organizational goals. Complete monthly forecasts and annual budget for operating unit and monitor / control costs. Responsible for annual budgeting of staffing, capital, spending and standards.
Ensure contract compliance with collective bargaining units.
Manages work team and staff including collective bargaining unit. Facilitate objectives by providing clear and continuous direction to staff. Develop, coach and mentor subordinates for existing and/or future roles.
Lead, coach and train employees toward team concepts and foster an environment for empowered, high performance environment. Identify and implement career development plans for direct reports. Set clear vision by ensuring goals and objectives are aligned with site strategies through performance management for each team member.
Conduct departmental and skip level meetings with employees in the focus factory.
Oversee leadership staff and responsible for ensuring all employees within the focus factory are properly trained in areas directly related to their job responsibilities as well as company policies, quality policies, and safety/environmental policies.
Review the recommendations of subordinates concerning personnel hiring, placement, discharge, etc., and wage and salary increases that are within established salary and wage structures.
Ensure accurate communication of operating status, financial and operational metrics at all established intervals.
Responsible for monitoring the weekly schedules through interface with Customer Service, Planning, and Logistics, to ensure timely customer service.
Responsible for special projects assigned to include but not limited to Lean Manufacturing initiatives, six sigma projects, safety initiatives, etc.
Maintain specified product quantity levels, including raw materials and product specifications.
Lead and/or support all investigations, manufacturing exceptions, product failures, RCA and customer complaints at the appropriate level with complete and comprehensive detail.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering (preferred) or a closely related field required.
Experience:
7+ years of manufacturing operations experience required preferably in a chemical manufacturing environment or related field. 5+ years of supervisory/leadership experience required.
Experience with Active Pharmaceutical Intermediates manufacturing.
Experience with Chemical operations involving hazardous materials and potentially violent reactions in both manual and automated processing environments.
Experience operating in compliance with FDA, EPA, OSHA and DEA regulations.
Preferred Skills/Competencies:
Possess advanced oral and written communication skills, as well as a strong ability to educate, persuade and mobilize resources. Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization; operations to senior leadership.
Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Other Skills/Certifications:
Process modeling, Microsoft Office Suite, Financial statements and reports, BPCS and JDA financial and planning systems, Process control systems including Delta V and PLC.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/SCOPE
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Usual office working conditions, primarily a first shift position; however, the position oversees a 24/7 manufacturing operation, working other shifts as needed. Position may work in non-climate controlled Plant facility.
