Compensation and Schedule for the Lab Medical Assistant

Lab Medical Assistant – Full-time, onsite, $19-$23 per hour, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, Tuesday and Thursday, 9:00am to 6:00pm. Great opportunity for a recent graduate to break into the allergy specialty!

Required Qualifications of the Lab Medical Assistant

  • 1+ year of recent medical assistant experience required

  • 3+ years of recent medical assistant experience preferred

  • Family Medicine or Urgent Care experience preferred

  • Medical Assistant diploma or certificate required

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen

Responsibilities of the Lab Medical Assistant

  • Demonstrate quality patient assessments relative to wellness for administration of immunotherapy, including breath sound assessments

  • Transition patients to provider’s care who present with acute illness

  • Review immunotherapy consents with patients and answer patient questions concerning immunotherapy

  • Perform all safety checks per protocol for administration of immunotherapy and other injectable medications

  • Administer accurate dosing and appropriate injection technique, adhering to OSHA guidelines

  • Execute accurate and safe patient care including emergency care related to a reaction to immunotherapy and assist provider as needed

  • Monitor patients during immunotherapy 30-minute wait period and assess at the completion of the wait period or sooner as needed

  • Perform serum titrations and special testing appropriate in the immunotherapy department

  • Communicate well with patients, staff, providers, and management

  • Fill allergy test trays as needed and assist with the oversight of antigens and other immunotherapy department inventory

  • Monitor for non-compliance and follow protocols for non-compliant patients

  • Provide patient education as needed

  • Pull medication samples as prescribed

  • Perform allergy lab phone triage duties, including call and message documentation

  • Monitor temperature-sensitive products and equipment

  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment

  • Facilitate care and documentation per protocol for outside serum and outside providers

  • Perform all safety checks and documentation for preparation of the allergy chart and serum

  • Provide strong team support
