Position Purpose : Infection Preventionists are experts on practical methods of preventing and controlling the spread of infectious diseases. Their work also helps reduce the risk of contagious diseases being carried out into the community. Infection control practices include surveillance, investigation of cases and outbreaks, training of staff members, the development and enforcement of infection control policies, and evaluation of the effectiveness of infection control efforts. If an outbreak occurs, infection preventionists track down the source and implement strategies to control the problem. They must be alert to any unusual illness that could signal an outbreak, a new type of infection, or even the first casualty of a bioterrorism attack.

What you will do :

  • Plan, organize, lead and control activities related to infection control.

  • Collect and analyze data, observe staff members' practices, participate in patient rounds, participate on committees, attend meetings, and design and lead interventions to improve infection control.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in healthcareis required with a Master’s degree preferred. 

  • A minimum of 5 years clinical health care experience.

  • Basic statistical analysis skills – Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products

  • Basic knowledge of microorganisms and their relationship to infectious disease and basic concepts of infection control.

Pay Range: $37.40 - $53.70

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
