Role:
This Principal Consultant position is primarily responsible to drive Functional/Technical solution and design and to provide expert guidance to the development team on Oracle Utilities Implementation, Maintenance, Support and Testing Projects for Oracle Utilities Clients. Leveraging their prior knowledge in design of systems based on Java/J2EE, Utilities Framework, Configuration Tools (if any), and Network Management(NMS) or Outage management (OMS) (if any) this designer will work as part of the team with other consultants, project and delivery managers to ensure deliver quality deliverables within agreed time and budget. Primary work is through remote location, but there is a possibility of international or National Travel based on project requirement.
KEY OBJECTIVE

• Work as an individual or as part of a team to design solutions on Oracle Utilities Applications especially in the area of Network Management Systems and other complementary technical platforms such as Grid Management
• Work on developing the code, testing and maintain by debugging as per the project demands.
• Work as part of the project team responsible for converting the External Design into Internal Design Specifications that will be used by Developers to program the system.
• Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering high quality programs within agreed budgets and time frames.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

• Gather and analyze customer specific requirements by participating in requirement workshops and convert them into solution designs
• Review and understand solution design documents and create External Designs for the custom solutions
• Ensure that External Designs comply with Global Delivery Center entrance criteria.
• Liaise with External Designers and participate with design walkthroughs; discuss/explain functional requirements and dissect into logical functional sections.
• Explain External Designs to Developers that will program the system; varying the level of specification based on the skills of the proposed programming team to ensure that the idea is clearly understood by the Developer
• Create application configurations for custom modules
• Code and debug programs, enhancements and modifications when necessary
• Develop/review detailed estimates for Design and Development phases based on functional requirements
• Work with the Project Manager to create a budget and project plan for the Internal Design, Development, Testing, and Support effort
• Perform quality and functional reviews during the Design and Development phases
• Serve as a focal point to communicate and resolve solution issues and provide regular status reports to the Project Manager including raising issues that impact project schedule or quality.
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE and TRAINING
(Indicate the essential experience, qualifications and attributes required to perform this position effectively)
• University degree of Engineering in Electrical or any of its equivalents. BTech/BE preferred
• At least eight (8) years work experience preferably in a multi-national organization
• At least two (2) years specific functional experience in Electrical or Power systems Industry
• At least five (5) year work experience in designing or technical leadership role
• At least five (5) years work experience in Java/C++ development. Technical capability in the areas of Java, J2EE, XML, SOA technologies, Oracle XAI etc, and experience with Building Custom Solutions using the tool stack is a plus.
• Experience on any Utility software with good understanding of business processes of the utilities industry
• Experience in high level or detail level estimation of effort for development and testing of design solutions using estimation tools
• Knowledge of the software development lifecycle & experience in Application Design and Development Methodology
• Good understanding of relational Database Design, Analysis and Normalization
• Good understanding of Object Oriented Design and Development
• Possess strong planning capabilities and product presentation skills
• Strong oral and written English communication skills
• Proven customer facing experience within professional service organizations
• Experience in mentoring other staff
• Ability to communicate effectively and build rapport with team members and clients
Preferred
• Prior experience with designing/developing/implementing electrical or power systems engineering software is a plus.
• Prior experience with designing/developing/implementing project using Oracle Network Management (NMS) is a plus.
• Experience with unbalanced load flow, fault analysis and system optimization algorithms
• Experience in Real time network models, Grid Management concepts and OMS is a Plus
• Knowledge of any of the Oracle Utilities Products like Customer Care and Billing (CCB v2.x), Meter Data management (Loadstar or MDM2.x), Mobile Workforce Management (MWMv1.x or 2.x), Work and Asset management (WAM) and Integration Stack is preferable.
• Knowledge of any Network Management System is a plus
• Experience on any of the following is a plus – XML, JDeveloper, Unix and Web logic
