Description We are in search of a Sr. Accountant to join our team based in Terrell, Texas. This role provides an opportunity to work in the financial industry, handling a variety of accounting tasks. As a Sr. Accountant, you will be instrumental in managing and analyzing financial information, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring all accounting operations align with our business goals. This role offers a long term contract employment opportunity.
Responsibilities:
• Manage bank reconciliations for approximately 40 accounts, with emphasis on two major funds.
• Ensure accurate tracking of capital assets activities and purchases in the spreadsheets.
• Collaborate with the audit firm to complete the audit process.
• Oversee the grant walk forward from the previous year, updating listings of the grants, and tracking any new grants/activity.
• Manage existing grants on the spreadsheet, ensuring updates on additional draw downs or reimbursements are recorded.
• Utilize Microsoft Excel extensively to navigate and manage data effectively, including the use of pivot tables.
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the General Ledger by managing journal entries.
• Handle month-end close processes and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Familiarize with and utilize Tyler Technologies Munis for various accounting tasks. Requirements • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Senior Accountant, preferably in a similar industry.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, procedures, and legislation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Tyler Technologies Munis or similar accounting software.
• Experience with general ledger functions and month-end/year-end closing processes.
• Excellent skills in managing, analyzing and reconciling accounts.
• Demonstrated ability in performing balance sheet and bank reconciliations.
• Expertise in preparing and posting journal entries.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• Proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification is preferred.
• Commitment to ethical standards and high level of integrity.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
