Azure API Designer Location: Wayne, PA/Remote Duration: Fulltime Description: As a Azure API Designer, you will be responsible for designing client’s APIs as a Product according to the API Product roadmap and directions set by the Product Owner, as well as client’s API Principles as defined in the Architecture Markers. Ideally the API Designer has solid (finance) business knowledge to ensure that the APIs best form a digital representation of various business capabilities, as well as a solid technical background to ensure effective service design. You should have demonstrated experience in designing scalable, backwards-compatible API Products. You will be the central API designer for the API Products and are expected to work with our various teams to develop consistent, reusable and scalable data models. You will to work along-side the product owners to help define API Products and the specifications to achieve a business goal or define the modifications to existing APIs to achieve the business need. In this role you will be responsible with the team and participate in building API Products and solve complex business requirements. In this role you will be part of the API Development Team that is responsible for strategizing and delivering digital solutions to cater for a diverse business community. You will be an integral member of an exciting environment where digital solutions through various channels (Web, APIs, Mobile, etc...) are being implemented. The position requires someone who is self-driven, with excellent communications skills (verbal and written), works well under pressure, and effectively works with cross-functional teams. This role also requires visionary thinking ability and provide future-oriented solutions impacting multiple applications in the landscape Day to day: Helps the API Product Owner structuring API User Stories to business features and requirements and define acceptance criteria. Performs high-level Impact Assessments of changes in coordination with system of record teams. Design and document REST APIs as Products using OpenAPI version 3.x standard. Establish and govern the API schema domains together with other API Designers to ensure consistent data models. Documents non-functional requirements Upgrade designs of existing APIs to facilitate new business features. Make sure correct API versioning is applied. Apply security by design. Work with a cross functional team of engineers to design integrated solutions, test, and deploy. Organize and promote the API Community of Practice and establish the standards and guidelines for client APIs. Think critically and provide end-to-end / scalable solutions impacting multiple systems of record. Represent Digital team in various other areas of IT in providing integrated solutions. Work closely with the API Community Manager to make sure the APIs Products are published on the developer portal to make it easy for the client developers to engage with. Work closely with the API Testers to make sure the sandbox data represents the business capability and the features. Work closely with key business stakeholders and partners beyond the product owners/managers. Work on products that are built in Agile and DevOps delivery model. Contributes to engineering communities of practice, and documents work. Essentials: BS or MS degree in Computer Information Science or related technical field. 5+ years designing and documenting RESTful APIs (Swagger/Open API 2.0/3.0). 5+ years on API teams with variety of technologies like Java, NodeJS, NoSQL, and Relational Databases. Experience with or knowledge of Agile Development methodologies (SAFe is a plus). Experience with software tools like Swagger Hub and Postman is required. Experience with Azure APIM including Developer Portal is a plus. Able to define and solve technical system interactions to achieve a business need. Excellent analytical problem solving and troubleshooting skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills with a keen sense of customer service. Excellent team player with proven ability to influence. Willing to learn and work in a a continuously changing environment. Able to give and receive open, honest feedback and to foster a highly collaborative environment. Outstanding communication, interpersonal, relationship building skills for team development. Experience within financial services is a great plus.
