*Position Summary: *
The Go!Healthy SNAP-Ed program is a part of the Children’s Aid Go!Healthy portfolio of programs. It is a Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Nutrition Education and Obesity Prevention program, which aims to improve eating habits and physical activity behaviors among the youth and families served by Children’s Aid. The intervention will include: behaviorally focused, evidenced-based nutrition education classes and food demonstrations with children and adults, the implementation of policy, system and environment strategies (PSE) to facilitate the adoption of healthy nutrition and physical activity behaviors, and the use of social marketing and media.
Under the supervision of the Project Director for the SNAP-Ed program, the Manager of SNAP-Ed Direct Education will be responsible for implementing a variety of program components, includingmanaging the implementation of nutrition and cooking education classes with youth and parents across our partner sites,supervising and training staff, and developing and distributing corresponding nutrition education materials. Implementation will occur at Children’s Aid’s community centers, clinics, and schools, located in Harlem, Washington Heights, the South Bronx and Northern Staten Island, and on virtual platforms.

Responsibilities: **
Program Management and Partnerships
Manage implementation of nutrition and cooking education with children and adults. Teach group series and sessions in the classroom, at food box, and at farmers markets.
Develop nutrition education calendar for youth and adult nutrition education across all sites. Stay current on and incorporate nutrition education best practices. Train program staff to implement education that follows approved curricula and in accordance with grant standards. Oversee organization and implementation of SNAP-Ed curricula for each age group and implementation site.
In collaboration with Go!Healthy leadership, coordinate with Children’s Aid program partners and sites to determine needs, program plans, and opportunities for expansion of direct education activities. Coordinate integrated direct education strategy and growth with site staff. Strategize new partnership opportunities at sites and with relevant programs. Plan and implement logistics including site locations, class selection, schedules, and staffing plan.
Coordinate and collaborate with Assistant Director and Manager of SNAP-Ed PSE to integrate nutrition education into PSE activities.
Supervision
Recruit, hire and supervise nutritionists and support staff to implement direct education activities. Responsible for candidate recruitment, selection, performance evaluation, as well as ongoing compliance per agency and funder requirements.
Hold regular supervision meetings. Observe, coach and work with staff to help them grow in their leadership and to strengthen program implementation. Assist with team building and ongoing development of a diverse, empowered, and goal-oriented team.
Develop and implement trainings for program staff, program partners, and program participants.
Operations and Administration
Assist with the development and monitoring of the direct education budget in terms of staffing and food and supplies spending.
Coordinate with Budget and Performance Manager to acquire, maintain, replenish and store appropriate stock of program equipment, materials and supplies according to program budget. Identify variety and quantity of supplies and storage solutions for the optimal implementation of programing.
Draft and maintain relevant policies and procedures and training documents.
Oversee development of content for and delivery of social media and participant communication according to program communication strategy. Work with Children’s Aid Communications office to promote program through blogs, website, and other media. Prepare staff and participants to speak to media.**
Manage program monitoring and evaluation activities, including in SNAP-Ed system. Implement own data entry and survey administration. Work closely with Budget and Performance Manager to manage and verify proper data collection and survey administration by Nutritionists in system.**
Comply with all privacy laws including HIPAA, FERPA, etc.
Execute program spending and reimbursement. Assist with administrative duties as needed.
Collaborate with Go!Healthy team and program partners. Additional job-related duties as relevant to support the Go!Healthy program and Children’s Aid mission.
*Qualifications: *
A minimum of 15 credits of college-level nutrition coursework required. Master’s degree in nutrition, public health or related field is strongly preferred. Registered Dietitian is a plus.
A minimum of three years of nutrition and cooking education experience with youth and adults. Five years of nutrition education will be considered as an alternative to a higher education degree.
Candidatemust*be bilingual(written and oral) in English and Spanish.*
Demonstrated expertise in implementing community food programs that include nutrition interventions with youth and adults.
Experience and passion for connecting children and adults to local, seasonal, and good food through hands-on education.
Passionate and dynamic educator and trainer who connects well with and inspires people of diverse ages and backgrounds. Extensive experience conducting trainings for program staff.
Direct supervisory experience or demonstrated interest in mentoring, training, or supervising staff.
Understanding of food’s intersections with social justice and health equity. A demonstrated commitment to apply critical racial, gender and environmental justice lenses to food programs.
Experience leading cooking demonstrations and ability to train staff to do so in a community, online, and outdoor setting.
Experience with data collection preferred including ability to navigate the SNAP-Ed Program and Evaluation Reporting System (PEARS) and Excel.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Loves working in a team and values cultivating a strong team dynamic.
Organized, detail-oriented and self-motivated.
Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends, for example for community or school events.
