General Summary
Contribute to the growth of Chr. Hansen beef/feedlot sales through daily interaction and influence on Chr. Hansen personnel, nutritionists, veterinarians, producers, regional and national feed companies, and academic thought leaders.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities
Provides technical assistance to Chr. Hansen Key Account Managers (KAMs) including education, training, and interpretation of research to continually improve knowledge and skill sets.
Supports sales team in growing and maintaining business. Understands, supports, and executes the selling process.
Positions key Chr. Hansen products to consulting nutritionists, veterinarians, and feed companies to increase recommendations of branded products. Maintains an active list of contacts with nutritionists, veterinarians, academic thought leaders, and other key industry opinion leaders.
Collaborates with Global Commercial Development and Innovation on industry trends, challenges, and opportunities to expand and/or enhance our brand portfolio and recognition.
Leads development and implementation of protocols and monitors Chr. Hansen research studies at university or contract research facilities.
Assists in the development and review of technical and sales materials.
Create and present scientific presentations as needed.
Participates in professional trade associations and committees related to the beef and dairy industry.
Assists in developing and supporting company positioning.
Prepare reports as required including objectives, meeting summaries, and expenses.
Operates professionally and supports the vision and values of the company.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Possess good communication, negotiation, and follow-up skills.
Possess a history of success working with beef operations including but not limited to feed companies feedlots, and key opinion leaders.
Must be able to work in a team environment with technical and sales professionals.
Must be able to increase product sales through relationships and influence.
Must be able to manage own time and schedule while supporting a team.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. .
Ability to travel up to 60% of working time. A valid passport is needed as some international travel will be required.
These characteristics are normally acquired through an advanced degree in agriculture science (Ph.D. or DVM preferred). A focus in ruminant nutrition or veterinary medicine is preferred with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience. An extensive knowledge of ruminant nutrition, production, or veterinary medicine is required.
Working Conditions
The working environment is a home office setting about 40% of the time and car and/or air travel about 60% of the time. This position requires a valid driver’s license, a good driving record, and the ability to be insured. The employee must be able to meet the travel requirements of the job.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, hear, use hands to finger, handle or touch objects, keyboard, and occasionally lift to 10 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
