Job Title: Medical TechnologistJob Description
We are seeking a skilled Medical Technologist to perform analytical procedures following Blood Bank Laboratory protocols. The ideal candidate will be able to process specimens, perform tests, and report results independently with documented training. Key responsibilities include calibration, quality control, statistical calculations, and understanding Blood Bank concepts. This role also involves managing monthly laboratory responsibilities, participating in inspection teams, and handling supply and inventory issues.
Responsibilities
Perform analytical procedures following Blood Bank Laboratory protocols without supervision.
Conduct all required calibration, quality control, statistical calculations, and other process control and mathematical functions.
Manage assigned laboratory responsibilities monthly and follow up with the supervisor.
Participate as a member on inspection teams, including organizations such as the College of American Pathologists, AABB, and FDA.
Order, accession, status, and report results of tests performed on patient specimens.
Read and understand various written materials related to specimen processing and verification.
Use, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory equipment following established procedures.
Receive and store Stem Cell Products and Human Tissue appropriately.
Review technical and administrative procedures as assigned, staying informed about section changes and updates.
Handle supply and inventory issues, ensuring proper recording and retrieval of necessary materials.
Answer telephone calls and interact with physicians, clinical staff, and other individuals.
Follow all laboratory and hospital safety policies, using personal protective equipment as required.
Handle hazardous materials using appropriate PPE and ensure hazardous waste is accurately labeled.
Train students, residents, and new employees as assigned.
Participate in on-call rotation when warranted.
Essential Skills
Clinical laboratory technical skills and experience with stem cells.
B.S. in Medical Technology or equivalent (e.g., HHS examination or ability to meet CLIA qualifications for Moderate complexity laboratory testing).
ASCP certification or equivalent required within 90 days of hire.

Work Environment

The role requires adherence to safety policies, handling hazardous materials, and using personal protective equipment. The position involves both independent work and interaction with various individuals, including physicians and clinical staff. On-call rotation may be assigned when necessary.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $58240.00 - $87360.00
