The Laboratory Technician mission is to provide accurate and timely data, in addition to keeping records, that support the creative winemaking process in order to achieve the highest quality wine product.
This is a seasonal harvest position from mid/late July through mid-November with the opportunity to be transitioned into a full-time lab role after the harvest season. This role may require you to work either the day shift or swing shift. The day shift is typically from 6am - 2:30pm, and the swing shift is typically from 2pm - 10:30pm.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Process grape maturity samples
Monitor tank and barrel fermentations
Prepare reagents and standards
Log samples and record results in spreadsheets and winemaking database
Calibration of laboratory equipment
Perform all routine analyses of musts and wines
Collect samples for analysis
Notify winemakers of problems that arise and out-of-specification analysis
Bottling line QC
General lab support
Knowledge of laboratory analysis and methodology
Excellent observational, organizational and communication skills
Strong computer skills, including word-processing, spreadsheets, and e-mail
Ability to work safely, including the proper use of protective equipment and proper handling of hazardous substances
Ability to work harmoniously with co-workers, and perform duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with the company’s value of exhibiting the highest quality standards in all endeavors
B.S. in Enology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science or relevant work experience
Pay range $21-$25 depending on experience for the seasonal position with overtime hours during peak season
